thanks

Make sure that any seller confirms that the radiator is functioning. A member here conveniently failed to mention this to me on one I bought about 8 months ago in an Ebay sale- not sure if from ignorance or intentionally- but it was disappointing. I already had another one, his was better cosmetically.
If the radiator is working properly, the CA-70 and W20 models are quite capable of producing great sound.
thanks PF --
i need to hit you up for just one more question --
my ONLY interest is going on a mad worldwide search for this model (and probably -overpaying)
is that i like the passive radiator sound effect on the 880 -- SO MUCH -
so - in your , or anybodys opinion--
does this WA 70 sound at least as good as an 880 ??
thanks
ira please its discontinued...
AIWA CA70 picture please

other than a five band eq what's the difference?
than this ?
100_2827 AIWA CA-100H front crop
there are quite a few differences . . the passive rad,amp etc . . .
ok... where is the passive raditator ? I dont see them ... in the rear ?
The passive radiator is in the screened in area in the front of the main unit where the "acousic 3D" badge is. It is an oblong passive radiator, not round. It is not visible like the CS880 is.
Aiwa CA-70 , Aiwa CA-W20
1. ok so both of these are 1 pieceboombox's, looking like 3 piece boombox?
2. do the side speakers actually come off, and or I guess that these both are 1 piece boombox's because the either side woofer's push air into the center passive raditor
3. if these are 3 piece boombox's then is the center passive raditor powered by a hidden subwoofer, somewhere inside of the main unit?
4. are these 3 piece boombox's
5. I somehow confused #2 question ...
DM4U...
The speakers were a unique design that required you to attach the speakers to take advantage of tha passive radiator. Otherwise when apart the speakers acted as a bass reflex unit. Please correct me Skip if I'm wrong but I belive that is it.

That would be a unique feature, I wasn't aware any boxes were made like that.
Aiwa's are cool.
00. So , Can Skippy Show a pic of the end oF this B'box Main Unit and the side of the speaker that mesh's with the side of the Main Unit to Show How the BASS Port Connect's to the Main unit and or show how that the speaker would work as a Bass-Reflex-Ported Speaker?
0. If in fact, that is how the Center Passive Radiator is Fed with Bass ???
B. and or show how the Passive Radiator is fed ... with bass from where ???

James and Fred, 1. These are 3 piece units. 2. I don't have my CA-70 or CA-W20 anymore.
But I can tell you that the speakers need to be attached to the main unit to take advantage of the "Acoustic 3D ". This is because on each speaker there is a small "waveguide" or square hole about 1 inch by 1 inch that would mate up with a hole of the exact measurement on the main unit's body. when the speakers are attached the sound waves travel through the wave guide to a seperate compartment in the lower half of the main unit where the oblong bass radiator is. This in turn transfers the bass soundwaves out of the front of the unit through the screen you see in the lower front part of the unit. I wish I could show you a picture of what I'm talking about, but that is the best way I can explain it to you.
Here is an picture from the Aiwa CS880 literature. It shows how the sealed cabinet and the bass radiator work together. The CA-70 and CA-W20 Acoustic 3D system works in a similar fashion. [URL=

That's cool skippy, do you have a larger version of that page? Do you have any more of that literature?
Here is the full page of that. I just have PDF files of some Aiwa literature from the old Boombox database. [URL=
