Kittmaster is working on a Toshiba for me and we need the chip # TA7328AP . I have tried to order it from cicon electronics and it never showed up and they don't answer emails or phone messages. It's like they took off for spring break. I also found it at andrews electronics, but it is a backorder item from them. Does anyone know another source to find it or does someone have a parts box that might have this same chip? Thanks
holy crap thats steep.....
They do have best offer button.I checked all my resources and they are dried up.These toshiba chips are getting harder and harder to find.
Are you guys sure this chip is it (ebay one) for Toshiba? The search I did on andrews electronics showed this same chip number for different companies:
http://www.andrewselectronics.com/search/parts.aspxIn fact, the rca version has a substitute chip in stock
If none else comes through with a better alternative - I will buy this ebay one -
cause I want my Toshiba!!!!
check pm asap

Most times I would agree, but there are still many other unknowns with this box, its a power assisted deck and it may not be working, so these are huge labor and time to figure it out......but since this box is rare and good shape.....well, its not my call. The other places were listing it at $5 each!!......so 4X increase is steep....
ok - then i agree !!
which toshiba is it ?
like an S90 or a WX1 might be worth some extra 'annoyances'
Good luck apple-k. I know what a pain logic controlled decks can be, let alone one with a remote. Hope you find what you need.
WOW -- get the friggin chip NOW
get LOTS of em

Hi appleknocker, can you describe the problem? Is it the tapedeck? I have the same Toshiba - tape deck is not working, I wonder if it is the same problem then I may need the same chip...
If it is going to be a trial and error fix, try and get a cheaper chip,But like i said most of those toshiba chips where built for this specific purpose and are hardly availible anymore.
That is a super nice radio
,
one day I would like to get me one also

It is not trial and error fix, its schematic troubleshooting from the ground up. The chip is proven bad.
I have ordered the chip from 2 places - the first place charged my card - never shipped it - and won't return phone calls or emails.
The second place I just ordered from last night and have my fingers crossed that they have it and will ship it out.
Jimski - thanks and do you know if the ebay chip is for Toshiba? The andrews electronics site (I posted a link earlier in this thread shows this same chip part number for Toshiba, RCA and Panasonic all with different prices and different extra part number info - or are they all the same chip?
RBJoe, oldskool & Walkgirl - thanks!
Vitalxs - right now it has a lot of problems. I have not even seen it yet. I had it shipped directly to Kittmaster for repair. It has one channel not functioning and I think that is what Kittmaster is trying to tackle first which he tracked down to this elusive chip. I am not sure if he has looked at the tape player yet or if this chip will help out with the tape player, I don't think it will. When he figures that tape deck part out we can pass the repair info on to you (I am hoping it's just a belt problem)Also, I will probably end up with extra chips and I can send you one if that's what you end up needing
ok then the chip was for the audio that num sounded very familiar well i hope you can source this thing its becoming very hard to find parts especially for these old bbx

Oh my bad,if it is certain this is what it needs. In this case it is worth the cash then, that is a keeper of a box too.Good luck with the repair.
the chip will only cover the audio path problem. Who ever hacked this thing first tried to replace the power amp (smart idea) but ordered the wrong chip housing (same part number wrong package type!) and completely screwed it up. I have it so that both power amps (with the correct package type in there now) where it works. Found this chips to have a shorted output. The amp paths are perfect and everything is restored with some trick signal switching. Once this part is done, then the FM, audio will be fully functional. THe deck is last since I have can not power it up with the boards removed from the shell.......it would risk damage doing so and there is no gain to try to rush it.
Hope this company comes through.....
Update - the original company I ordered from finally emailed me - they say they sent the chip by usps on the 18th from New York. It should get there soon.
Great that beats paying 20 for it
Most likely be here tomorrow then. I thought it was a scam company, i guess we'll see when it gets here.
Yes, Cicon electronics please take this opportunity to descam yourselves and deliver my boombox chip or you are nothing more than cow chip here!
