oldy --your PM is on the way
Yeah... I worked there for a while. Unfortunately, all I have to show for it are a bunch of Flavoradios, a pair of Mach One speakers and a drawer full of alligator clips.
BB - did you work there in the days when they sold this scr-8 box ?

What did you think of the Mach One's. The speaker community is sort of divided on them, some people love them others say that listening to a wood chipper making its way through 2" steel scraps sounds better.

Worked there '73-'77. Can't say I remember seeing an SCR-8 then. Of course, I don't remember much from that era at all... except maybe the U.S. bicentennial, the STA-225 receiver (still have; don't use), the stuff I mentioned in my last post, and something called a Modulaire. Check it out
here. (A dm4u-style video, NOT by dm4u... but in the same, distinctive style. If I were James, I'd sue!)

Still have the M1's hooked up to my stereo system. I like 'em... but they're all I've ever had, so it's kind of hard to compare. (Of course, I also like the sound of wood chippers cutting through steel, so my taste in audio is questionable!)

You know, of course, it's not me. Just a James impersonator. Amazing, huh?
that was a good descriptive video
just like my most recent
one and I posted a comment on that one that you directed us to :-)

I used to have a all in one like that one in the video but it's up in the parents house in Dallas up there near
James, doesn't it bother you that there's a guy out there in YouTubeLand who's stolen your act?

Check out the SCR-8 review that 928GTS just posted in the boombox chat area. It's great!
When I asked 928GTS who made the SCR-8, he quoted an old post by jamescyberjoe, who not only seems to know everything there is to know about Radio Shack manufacturers, but who says he owns two SCR-8's... one for parts and one NIB.
And so, you're right! There definitely is some new-old-stock out there.
P.S. Ka-bump.
yup BB --was hoping no members would read that great review just YET !!!
Jeez, I thought you'd be to busy unwrapping your 242 existing boomboxes' now that Ike is no more threat to the wooden golf cart crowd, to be lookin' for another big blaster, wood'nt ya know?
even more important than me getting some swell radio shack box ------
is look above to the post by baby boomer --the one that says "here"
yes, I think that was filmed on location in
Houston, TX
It's uncanny how well BB captured the essence of a James video.
The only things missing were references to "this piece of junk" and forgetting which buttons do what.

Aw shucks
Gee, I'd love to take credit for that little masterpiece, but, like I told Ira, I didn't do it. I just found it on YouTube while looking for a Modulaire. It's just a bizarre, wonderful, eerie, mind-blowing coincidence that it's so much like James' videos. I feel fortunate - no, blessed - to have found it.
we are ALL blessed that you found it ---
'thanks for sharing'
