true, but that`s just the catalog number,which was changed for several Realistic units every year ,so it could appear under another number as well...

Yeah... I worked there for a while. Unfortunately, all I have to show for it are a bunch of Flavoradios, a pair of Mach One speakers and a drawer full of alligator clips.

What did you think of the Mach One's. The speaker community is sort of divided on them,some people love them others say that listening to a wood chipper making its way through 2" steel scraps sounds better.

Worked there '73-'77. Can't say I remember seeing an SCR-8 then. Of course, I don't remember much from that era at all... except maybe the U.S. bicentennial, the STA-225 receiver (still have; don't use), the stuff I mentioned in my last post, and something called a Modulaire. Check out the SCR-8 review that 928GTS just posted in the boombox chat area. It's great!

When I asked 928GTS who made the SCR-8, he quoted an old post by jamescyberjoe, who not only seems to know everything there is to know about Radio Shack manufacturers, but who says he owns two SCR-8's... one for parts and one NIB.

And so, you're right! There definitely is some new-old-stock out there.

It's uncanny how well BB captured the essence of a James video.

The only things missing were references to "this piece of junk" and forgetting which buttons do what.

Gee, I'd love to take credit for that little masterpiece, but, like I told Ira, I didn't do it. I just found it on YouTube while looking for a Modulaire. It's just a bizarre, wonderful, eerie, mind-blowing coincidence that it's so much like James' videos. I feel fortunate - no, blessed - to have found it.
