I do believe those radios are really rare, I
did look into it on ebay, but there is never one
on ebay far the last 6 months or so

I just tried to find something on Google about this box. I couldn't believe there was absolutely nothing to be found - basically zero matches.

Yahoo only has one match and that is for a service manual.

This box must be super duper mega rare!

That's really the only reason he rode to Florida with me...the CP-5 & 7 were in the cab with us on the way down and the FX-700R joined us on the way back!

not even enough time to respond !!

thought these were so rare ?

anyway --have not made any selection yet --
because most of these wasteful members have scribbled their names all over their warranty cards -
and worse - some have even thumbed the corners of their owners manuals

but - dont get too discouraged --keep submitting your offers --and perhaps i may reduce my standards

They are neat little radios. The Panasonic RX-C20 is about the same size, and I like that deck better. I've never seen the power cable for the Sansui, I assume it has an external brick like the C20 since there isn't enough room in the box for the transformer?

That is correct it has an external brick. And it is quite a powerful little beast.

I do think a zx7 is much better anyway

The C4/C5 is very, err, vanilla compared to the C7 or C9. Not worth getting unless you are a Sanyo collector. That auction link, $99, big time overpay: they usually go for $20-40.

OK, after reading this post about the Sansui fx-700r, I do have one also. Mine is almost perfect and was given to me along with Magnavox 8300. The problem? Everything works fine, cassette and all, BUT there is no sund coming from the speakers. Tunes in FM and seems fine, with no sound. Never really looked into it. Its sitting in a bok with the power cord and would like to hear it since you guys have been talking about it. Any suggestions?

Gotta agree here. I still say they are good but not worth getting from overseas or a $99 buck starting bid. But do not expect the performance of a C7 let alone a C9.

I guess I could give it to you Red, but after I got it out of the closet and plugged my headphones in the back, they worked fine. I did get some sound from the speakers after spraying contact cleaner into the speaker jacks but it went away. I fooled with the wires a few times, unplugging and plugging them but never matched the loudness that I have with the headphones. WTF?

You know what REALLY strange? The Sansui FX-700R that RBJ won for oldskool was from the SAME SELLER that I won mine from way back in October 2005! I checked his feedback to confirm & there I am on Oct 27th 2005. You paid around the same amount I did too.
I wonder where eBay seller 1gggone gets his stuff from? He gets a fair amount of of Sansui stuff. Most of his gear looks to be in tip-top shape. Looks like a seller who knows the value of cleaning up audio stuff before selling it & also the value of good listings with lots of good pics.


ash25, it sounds very much like your Sansui FX-700R has dry joints at the speaker jacks. This is an easy fix for someone with a soldering iron. I've had mine to bits to replace the deck belt. Considering it's size, it's not too bad to work on.
If you can't do it, please sell it to someone who can. This mini b-box should sing

Weird, I also got mine from this seller ! I think it was around 2 years ago. I wanted to get it because i didnt have a Sansui boombox. I didnt realize how small it was until i opened it and i remember thinking 'you gotta kidding me'

I posted a pic before but....
