rule of thumb; when buying boombox's try to get all of the part's to it at the same time, it's less expensive that way :-)

DM4U obviously you have received THE UNIT so have you fixed it yet.

as of yet, no response. Why do these things have a habit of falling off anyway?

uh hummm.........<coughs......told you so....coughs>

They do not fall off, they are RIPPED off because there is a mechanism that locked the door shut when the batteries ran low and people wanted to get the tapes out......and also the tape flip for breakin was big to reverse the tape as quick as possible, by removing the door, it allowed quick change reversal of the tape.

In the process the door spring is also lost and the door destroyed. That is the two primary reasons that I've heard.

If you want it bad enough.....dig deep and buy it.....or not......or wait.......your choice.

how does one go about fixing the lower cassette deck it simply doesnt work in the one I have seen pictured above hmmm...

it should work just fine, as long as the head is enguaged while playing. The door has a spring mech that slams the tape against the solid plastic background. Its mostly a cosmetic thing, it should still work normally.

True indeed, but somebody WILL buy that door... at THAT price (or very close to it).

Personally, I would never buy a box that had a major part like a cassette door missing... and I don't care how rare or how much of a grail the box is, unless the box was super cheap.

Im sorry but I wouldn't respond either.
Granted 300. is not cheap, but these parts are not readily available either.
And a great percentage of the C-100's out there are missing this part and or the cassette drawer underneath.
Supply and demand I guess.
Personally I don't think he will get his price but you never know.
If you were really interested in the part you should have offered him a fair or realistic price for the part. You kind of shot yourself in the foot now because he probably will be less willing to negotiate the price with you now.
