Need a Woofer for Telefunken Hifi Studio 1

oldskool69 - 2008-11-18 18:45

Well, it seems my half a 'Funken wants to operate as a whole a 'Funken. But lo and behold...after waiting a year to hear it in stereo...I HAVE A BAD RIGHT WOOFER! ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! Mad

Thanks for the help! Smile

reli - 2008-11-18 19:20

Mine has a bad center speaker, I'm going to take it to a repair man. Probably a dried-up resistor or something.

sdbobbyt - 2008-11-18 21:55

Did you see the speakers on e-Bay?

Look Here

sdbobbyt - 2008-11-18 21:55

My BUST! Already ended.

blasterpunk - 2008-11-19 00:59

Is it the Studio 1 or studio 1M ?

ford93 - 2008-11-19 05:10

Oldskool69 you missed that auction of the Telefunken speakers? Frown

That auction was your chance man!

oldskool69 - 2008-11-19 09:33

ford93:

I did see it and lost somehow. I was not watching it closesly as I had other things to do and my connection was turtle like last night. Frown

Blasterpunk:

It's a Studio 1, not the 1M Smile

reli - 2008-11-19 14:23

Then you wouldn't want the 1M speakers. I tried hooking some up to my Studio 1, and they sucked.

oldskool69 - 2008-11-20 20:20

Are the woofers different? Smile

reli - 2008-11-20 23:39

Yes, the speakers on the Studio 1 have larger dust caps than the 1M. Also they seem to be darker in color. As far as technical differences, I'm not sure, but other people here have said that the 1 has more bass than the 1M.

oldskool69 - 2008-11-21 17:38

Thanks for the info!

Now does anyone have a Studio 1 speaker? Big Grin

cali9dub - 2008-11-22 19:10

temporarily hi-jacking the thread....but has anyone run the Studio 1 on 110. Looks like if you install 2 fuses that it is able to run 110. Mine has a sticker and sort of an explaination that appears to give instruction on how to configure the fuses to allow to run on 110...just wondering if this is true or not. Thanks.

oldskool69 - 2008-11-23 07:38

It will run on one fuse but it won't run right. You will need two fuses. There are four clips. You will need a 1a/250v fuse in the 1/2 and 3/4 positions for 110-120v. If running on 220-240v you use a single fuse in the 2/3 position. Smile

blasterpunk - 2008-11-23 07:51

I have speakers but i have to get a cheap and good way to send it from germoney.

oldskool69 - 2008-11-23 08:06

I'll send a PM! Big Grin

Thats what I thought...but the little tag that explained all that on mine is 1/2 missing...so I wasn't sure of the fuse size.

oldskool69 - 2008-11-29 08:06

I saw the ones on eBay, but shippings a b=tch. Is anyone willing to send a woofer? Smile

oldskool69 - 2008-12-01 18:04

Woofer....Woofer....Bueller....Bueller....

skippy1969 - 2008-12-01 18:33

Sorry Freddie......... Frown

Just kidding. Wink

redbenjoe - 2008-12-01 18:55

hey oldy --have you found any other brands that fit ?
asking --because the amps in these are much to strong for those whussee woofs, anyway.

reli - 2008-12-01 19:08

Why not have a shop repair it? Probably just a broken lead or resistor.

Ira, As much as I know I could put something in there with more chutzpah, this is one that MUST be in original condition. Smile

Reli...what do you mean by a bad resistor? The channel is OK (so far) so I'm not sure a resistor would be it. Smile

redbenjoe - 2008-12-01 19:46

ok -- oldy --it is very understandable- that the beautiful studio be/look original --

SOOOO -- look at the tech section --guessing thats the correct place to post about my local speaker place --they are really talented -

and they fix speakers WORLDWIDE

redbenjoe - 2008-12-01 19:49

does the woofer still produce any sound? or is it coil rub cos if its just the coil rubbing you can re foam it and re align the voice coil in the process.

oldskool69 - 2008-12-02 17:13

Yep produces sound. And not bad until you put some heat to it. Rubber surround is intact. Smile

I've got one. i live in Ontario Canada and shipping to USA is $20 Canadian (about $17 US). The speaker will be $50 Canadian (about $40US). Please let me know if you want it. I accept paypal. I am out of town for holidays now and will be able to send in January. henryfong28@gmail.com
The telefunkens are truly the best sounding ghetto blasters from decades ago, it destroys all others. Someone posted about fuses. From my experience, use 1 fuse and use it on either right side or left side, not middle. I recently purchased JVC RC-M70 (x2), RC-550, RC 656 with original box, Sharp GF777.

ford93 - 2008-12-23 19:31

I got mine at a Tech shop and he got her to work on the left speaker channel had her playing for awhile even got all the bulbs new and when he turned her off and then turned her back on there was a loud pop. So now she's back to not working properly again. The bulbs are out and the left channel is distorted again.

It's like she doesn't want to be restored, the Tech got the right Transistors and the correct bulbs I don't get it.

only one box has twice the power of the telefunken on mains the sac 07 draws 215 watts on mains ,its worth a closer look ,i been tinkering with mine and it'll vibrate the floor.

this one is battey powered and it will hurt you with sound.

ford93 - 2008-12-23 19:43

No joke on that Technics JVC Floyd did you ever got the other one sold?

jvc.floyd - 2008-12-23 19:50

no man ,this one is enough and with the right speakers is insane and more power then you could ever use.

ghettolife - 2008-12-24 19:57

It's not just about power man, It has to sound good. Anyone who has ever heard the Telefunken will tell you that it cannot be beat in sound quality. It's like a Bugatti Veyron with 1000 horsepower but it can't turn corners or race like a Ferrari with 600 hp. Power is not everything. Though I love the RC M90....
