This radio is very loud, you can see them on e-bay from time to time, under different names also: McDonald Instrument, Loyd's, etc.

looks like a Panasonic RX5500 aka

I wouldn;t say they were cheap

You gots to shop around and be patient with boomboxes right now

If you KNOW what you want - stick to your budget and YOU will get one

If you just want to blow your kids education on a Lasonic go have at it - hit ebay and get the box of your dreams

But if you want to save money - wait - look - and wait some more - you'll get the box at the right price

To be honest I don't know what I want, the nicest boombox I have ever heard was a yellow magnavox 8300, I honestly don't even know what a good one sounds like lol but I have always liked the look of the sharp with the 4 subs I think its a GF-777 but again I have never heard one

Sorry to say, but it's not so-called A.K.A. box, cause it means exactly the same radio, made on the same factory, but sold under different brand name.

This radio was made in Taiwan, and only looks close to Panasonic.

Take a look at the pic of inside of them (on the top is Panasonic).

They are different boxes, and of course from different leagues.

 Got to agreed with Metad,

I'm not exactly sure who made them but they were sold in Canada under license to the Canadian Tire Corp.

Never once have I seen a quality audio item sold under "Pulsar". Canadian Tire was NEVER known for it's audio equipment...TRUST ME. If you look at the Ebay ad very carefully, beside the name  you can see the triangular logo used by Can. Tire.

My advice stay away from this unit...hang in there and wait for a quality item to pop up on Ebay..then jump.

You'll have no regrets.
