He has a mint Crown but sadly a little out my price range ?

ahh i did say he might be pricey, i have had some good deals off him in the past but i think that was before he knew their value sadly.

anyway i wish you all the best in getting one, in the mean time why not see what Stereo Mad may have, he's a top bloke and has some minters.

that crown 5100 looks nice but sounds crap, as any member will vouch me, maybe you could score a better box John

What would you say to go for ? I also like the sharp gf 9292 ?

sharps are all good boxes but there are better out there, depends what your after, big black blingy empty not so good sounding late 80s boxes? or the golden age of boxes which was made between 80/85, the more solid better sounding silver type.

how much are you wanting to pay?

for between 40 and 80 quid you could bag a philips d8614 and they sound fantastic.

the 8614 is the second box i posted in this thread.

it has all the whistles and bells, really depends if your after looks or sound or both?

Stereo Mad has a lot of awesome boxes and a great deal of knowledge, as he as stated he has some for sale it maybe a good idea to get intouch

What are the JVC like ?

I have emaild stereo mad as he's from my area so it seems silly not to.

not quiet sure of your question john so il'e answer best i can.

iv'e always been into art and been good at drawing since being a kid, the graffiti i started admiring in my teens but never got into it seriously.

to put it in a nutshell i used to vandalise all the buses with big daddy posca markers lol
just the way it was where i grew up

I do love my sharps!! can't be as bad as you and your one man mission to spread the word to the world on your 8614! LOL

but i gotta say it sounds better than most if not all sharps

Oooooh thems fightin words!!...ha ha, each to their own mate, that's what makes this fun. To be honest I listen to my boxes and my opinion on their sound quality varies massively depending on the music being played...a box can sound average on one track then awesome on another! But no one will ever convert me from a GF-fan! tho obviously my favourite box is a JVC!

it's only my opinion Si, just speaking from experience, iv'e had a lot of gf's and they are great boxes no question.

i just don't recall any of them sounding fantastic.

they can thump no question, but just seem to lack something in the sound department.

i seem to recall the 9797 and 9494 sounding the best

It is your opinion Az and yours is far more knowledgeable and experienced than mine mate

also don't forget that i'm biased towards the 8614

Well you've had a helluva lot more boxes than I have over far more years than me. I'm only a noob LOL!   Been collecting for less than a year but have learnt a lot from the wise old(ish) sages of the forum
