WANTED: JVC RV-DP100 (200) tuner(printboard)

pjzzz - 2013-07-13 05:36

It seems that the previous owner of my DP100 had some leaking batteries left in the battery compartment.

Now the tuner isn't working anymore, it hums a little.

I'm looking for somebody that has a scrapped RVDP100/200 and is willing to look if they still got the tuner. It's located on the left side of the tube behind the sub-woofer.

Radio Raheem might be your best bet for a dead kaboom, assuming he hasn't thrown them out.

I've contacted him before for some missing knobs and I believe he said he has thrown out his spare-parts :-(

So I cleaned the print with a soft toothbrush in warm demi-water with a drop of detergent. Rinsed it with vinegar and than pure alcohol afterwards en dried it for 12H.

It's working!!

Just got an annoying high pitched tone when playing stereo, on mono the tone is gone.

Looks like the circuit is fine and that your issues are contaminant related. Detergent is fine for removing grime and dirt. However instead of vinegar which is acidic and could cause other issues, consider using sodium bicarbonate aka baking soda which is a neutral base. Usually sold in bulk as eco-friendly household cleaning or in smaller food grade quantities for home baking.

Tap water can contain ions that can remain following rinsing. De-ionised water is a good rinse aid for cases of serious contamination. It can be got from places selling car batteries for use as water top up. Save the alcohol for the final rinse and quick dry/fast evaporation.

It seems that the tuner-board needs to be replaced. It's IC's are defective.

So I'm hoping that someone has a Boomblaster  scrapped and is willing to look if the tuner-board looks the same as the one from a DP-100/200.
