Worst packaging I've ever seen!

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-20 20:42

I just received this boombox in a box that was barely larger than the boombox and it was wrapped in one piece of paper. I $H!t you not, one piece of paper. The even more amazing part is the box arrived without any damage at all, Eek I'm stunned the boombox arrived safely.

vladi123456 - 2008-03-20 20:45

That is an amazing story! And it confirms once again our theory that less packing = less damage Laugh Out Loud
But what boombox is that????????????????
By the way, glad to hear it arrived undamaged Big Grin

It's a MacDonald that I won as I was really playing around, I was watching it but not really serious about it. Well with two minutes left it only had one bidder with two bids on it for $10 so I thought what the heck and threw in a $15 bid, I was shocked when I was high bidder at $12.50 and no one else bid. This box cost me a total of $36, it could use a cleaning and a little polishing of the tuner glass but it's complete with both antennas still fully intact.

Maybe the guy was not too thrill of just getting $12.50 oh well thats what auctions are all about "you win some, you lose some"!

That's kind of what I was thinking but if selling it for $10 was going to bother him he shouldn't have started the bidding at $10. Tap Toes

ford93 - 2008-03-20 21:09

I Agree but it's your gain bud!

oldskool69 - 2008-03-20 21:14

Nice catch MB! And I see you (and Vladi as well) are proof positive that the "UE School of Packaging" has turnedout some of the best and brightest! Laugh Out Loud

I've got one of those MacDonalds and you will find that they are extremely loud. I'm talkin' like 2.5 on the volume knob is friggin' loud. Eek

That's good news but I can't test it out yet, to much static and barely functioning switches that I have to clean first. It works fine but it's impossible to get it working 100% because these usual issues I have to address.

Well I've got to tell you Ed that a bag probably would have offered more protection than the paper the seller wrapped it in. I'm still in awe that there isn't any damage to the radio as a result. Nod Yes

jvc.floyd - 2008-03-21 08:15

i think packing them a little loose is good cos then any impacts on the carton don't instantly transmit to the radio inside ,but double boxing is the way to go along with plenty of padding around the radio.

enskanker - 2008-03-21 08:38

I always double bag.

Except I can't now cause skippy has one of my bags and won't return it.

Hey Ed, if loud sounds come out of your knob, by all means, comment away. Laugh Out Loud

We're all going to get in trouble because this thread has been jacked to shizzle. Laugh Out Loud Nod Yes

sinister - 2008-03-21 12:31

Big Grin Leaving

enskanker - 2008-03-21 12:34

Easily correctable shizzle....

Yes this packing paper and packing job, masterblaster is pur'shizzle. This is the kind of paper used in South Florida Public restrooms and
to clean up after teabagging. Do not reuse this paper, masterblaster, it is one use only tea bag, restroom, packing, though some folks reuse to ship walkmans and Conions. Laugh Out Loud

redbenjoe - 2008-03-21 13:56

the only serious issue with packing these boomboxes in shopping bags -
is there are no obvious spots to stick on the stamps...... Smile

enskanker - 2008-03-21 14:12

No issue, I always ship C.O.D. with extra postage to cover paper.
