It's not news, but UE is aces...

isolator42 - 2008-10-07 02:57

s2g member enskanker aka UE, aka... (oh, you fill this bit in Wink) has been a total diamond to me recently.

When I discovered the Lasonic i931 had a 12V dc input, I decided that my son needed one for Christmas.
My son.
Not me at all.
Honsest...

I couldn't find anyone who would ship internationally with any sort of guarantee & getting a legitimate looking eBay seller was looking about as likely as a finding a banker with nothing to worry about.
Finally dispairing of ever getting a Lasonic i931 shipped to the UK, I asked you lot.

Ed steps up, sourcing me one at well below the RRP & thanks to some cleverness with the shipping via his sister in Germany, gets it shipped to me for peanuts. Plus no import duty to pay! Of course Ed double-boxed it as well (more than any retailer would do), so it arrived safe & sound.

Then, cheeky sod that I am, I ask another favour: I need a certain pink boombox in a hurry & he obliges, getting his other half to pick me one up from a local store & shipping it out really quickly.

This is what s2g is all about Smile

Uncle Ed ...what a guy!

Humble Bow.

If anybody else in that part of the world is looking for an i931 or such let me know.

I know I can count on my sister and an APO ship from US to Germany is cheap...and the she can forward like she did to iso.

Only catch is it can take 6 to 8 weeks door to door.

Outstanding member assist Ed.....

isolator42 - 2008-11-03 01:25

Oh, it doesn't end there.

On arrival the remote for the i931 had some damage. It couldn't have occurred in transit - some of the buttons were squashed in - almost certainly a manufacturing fault (Lasonic never did have a sterling rep for quality...).
I emailed UE & he told me to send it back to him right away.
He then emailed Lasonic, & sent it onto them. They sent a replacement & UE then sent it back to me.

Above & beyond? I think so.

So, everyone raise a glass to Ed Smile

Ed, your willingness to go "above and beyond the call" and "walk the extra mile" (choose your metaphor) are a joy to read about. It's a lesson in kindness and generosity that I need to learn.
