Just remembered e-bay sends my mail to a g-mail account that I have, just signed in to it to check my mail and discovered I had an e-mail from Michael:

I found you another HITACHI 3D9 TRK-9230HC on ebay that you should find more affordable. It's pretty beat up from the looks of it and the tape deck does not work,however since you are an expert and "know alot about these things"......you should be able to completely restore to like new condition!

I'm more of a Clairtone 7980 Conion C100F guy! I sold a near-mint+ one not long ago for $1500.00 and alot of collectors seemed to think i was asking too much for it too....BUT the buyer was extremely pleased with it and it's the actual buyer who matters.
Opinions are only opinions and there is no set price or price guide on vintage boomboxes. The value depends on condition and what the buyer is willing to pay.
Like i said,to me it is worth at least $150.00 and even though i'm not a big Hitachi fan,i do like this big model and will never sell it for less.

That
other 3D9 isn't so bad. The deck is almost certainly a new belt job (easy on this one) & apart from the bit of missing case it should clean up OK... considering it'll be over $130 cheaper than the one being sold by our Canadian
