i put up a post on our wanted forum for
a Sansui # FX-700-
well , it became the usual comedy thread
--with no productive replies --
just when i was about to realize there was NFW to ever get one of the ultra-rare boxes .....
out from the ashes -- comes Ash !!
actually - members are not that anxious to part with these tiny guys --but he finally accepted the trade for 7 regular grails ---
plus 2 'above grail' boxes-
--the little sucker got here yesterday --in MUCH better shape than he had described --and he packed it -- in the kind of carton that WE SAVE .

one more happy little matter - i am glad to report is ::
that i am often not very selective about cosmetic details --
so i usually dont ask members to go thru the PIA pictures drill
if a cool member here says its complete and looks OK ---THEN IT IS -- no pictures!!
so --during the long 'negotiations' -- i had always assumed it was the usual 'dome-a- dozen'
common black model.........
but - it did not take too long into the un-wrapping process -- to discover that Ash sent me the rare and coveted RED one
love it-
thanks alot Ash
Great job both of you.
It is a fantastic little box. And you'll see more red than black. They just did it that way to attract chicks I guess. I prefer mine in black though and regardless of what color it is...IT SOUNDS FANFRIGGINTASTIC!
with oldy about the sound quality --except it outfriggenstanding
congrat ira you got yourself your dream come true
Awesome!!! Ash is da man for sure!
Great story Ira but why is this one so special?
Hey Cris, invite me over & I'll show you.
...& if that sounded a bit suspect, the problem is with you dear reader
AO --
its so special, because it does have a good deck, makes fine recordings , the tuner is as good as most boxes (that i have), the line in works great-
and mostly -- that it does put out a room filling sound in this tini/mini 14" x 4" package -
so - until one of us knows of another mini that can sound this good -
i am proclaiming that this box is the undisputed SOUND per POUND king
i had put this shot in our collections forum -- to show how mini this mini is ::
Congrats on scoring that baby pitbull of a box, Ira!
I heard the one Oldskool69 had at the Florida meet and can testify that it sounds MUCH larger than its size presents.
It is definitely worthy of being put into the pitbull class of boxes. King of the mini's for sure.
I have the CP-55W. It's way bigger than the 700R.

I can't imagine that this Sansui can outperform the small JVC portable with the removable deck..... the PC100? It has pretty amazing sound from an equally small package.
last night --did the comparo :
this 700 (ASH) vs the pc100 (SKIPPY)and the panny C50 (BUZZ70)
(since this is our feedback forum -- thanks again to all 3 members --all GREAT deals.)
the 700 has no balance control and no mono/stereo switch --
the pc100 has no balance control --
the c50 has both --
the 700 has a very effective equalizer-
as for sound quality (imho)the 700 hangs with the pc100 (easily)
but the c50 , which is a bigger mini --has the best overall sound of these 3 nice boxes
the 700 is really sub-mini size --and seems to go all day on 4 C cells --
so for the 'fun/easy to carry' rating --it has no equal
---already have placed a post in our wanted forum for a black 700 --(bump)

So.... it's not better than the PC100..... and, they are about the same overall dimensions.
Sounds like a tie to me
PF -- yes - lets call it a tie with those two -
but if you were listening to any of these 3 terrific minis --for a few hours --
the C50 would be more enjoyable
