L Lopez = total perfection!!

baby.boomer - 2008-04-28 18:20

I just received a 100%-perfect-in-every-way Conion C-100F from L LOPEZ, and I'm absolutely stunned... amazed...awe-struck!!! Eek This beauty looks like new, sounds wonderful, and is totally functional: radio, both tape decks, lights, alarm, tape drawer, battery compartment, 2 antennas... everything (including the tape door cling)!! And it's the Korean-made reissue, which I believe is actually rarer than the original. This later version has no VU meters or cassette-travel lights, and it has manual cassette controls instead of soft-touch. But, far from being unhappy with the changes Conion made in this later edition, I'm fascinated with the ways the company chose to save money. Making the box in Korea (instead of Japan) and leaving off a few bells-and-whistles probably helped Conion keep this gem affordable in the face of rising costs. One thing that didn't change was the sound: it's crystal clear (crisp highs and thumping bass) even at high volume. This box is - how do you say? - LOUD!! Definitely worthy of the title "Holy Grail"!

Thanks L LOPEZ for selling me an awesome boombox. Your fast UPS shipping (with tracking number), rock-solid packing (double-box with oodles of bubblewrap) (it was worth taking a little extra time to unwrap) and frequent/friendly/helpful communication was top-notch. And special thanks for sending along a package of red reel-to-reel cassettes as a gift.

Boys and girls of S2G, it just doesn't get any better than this. From now on, when you see L LOPEZ (miguel1love on eBay) selling something, do like I did... BUY IT!!! Big Grin Wink

What?! I missed out on a Conion from L Lopez?!

Ah man!!!! Great score! Great review too! This is what I call positive feedback!

Enjoy that beast!

Are the only differences between the series 1 and Korean series 2 cosmetic, and the VU's and lights you mention? Or is there an internal difference as well?

Finally... here's a photo of my newest favorite boombox. Looks right at home, doesn't it?
(Sorry. I haven't had the courage to open the red reel tapes, yet. They're MIB from 1984!!)

Beautiful pic of a beautiful box... someday, someday

Oh and stuff is only NOS once, personally I'd hold out for a used reel and use that for photos. In fact the silver reel looks sweet in there now Nod Yes
