Thanks AUTOBOT84 (Aaron)

johnnygto - 2009-03-04 21:02

Just got back from meeting long time member Autobot84 in Pocahontas, AR. He was kind enough to let me take his beautiful Conion C100F off of his hands.

He would not budge on the "not shipping" and I am glad he didn't. I have had a run of bad luck lately (ORBEX).

First class transaction!, he sent me pics, told of anything that bothered him (nothing really-all little stuff!). Great guy to deal with. I only wished I had more time to talk with Aaron, I was rushed to get home and try to get a little sleep Frown

Thanks again Arron Nod Yes

Approx 350 miles apart, Aaron treated the box like it was a new born! Covered up so she wouldn't get cold, and he threw some reel tapes in too!! Awesome guy!

That's just AMAZING...pick-ups, AND meeting the person selling the box makes this hobby just that much better IMO, and for the seller to be an S2G member, even BETTER...nice job guys Wink !

i refused to let fedex or ups destroy a great box like this. it was only a 2 hour drive and it saved us both alot of worry and headaches. only took one tank of gas (25.00) round trip compared to 60.00-70.00 shipping.

auto, you have my UTMOST respect man...i mean that. You and johnny both did well...i mean what's 2 hours of driving for saving a GRAIL...hell i've driven 14 hours return for a box...i'm glad everything worked out!

7+ hours of driving is alot better than having a big expensive JUMBO sized box of chicklets show up on your doorstep Laugh Out Loud I call "pick-ups-in-person" "PIECE of mind" Laugh Out Loud ...and i still say meeting the seller "in the flesh" is a big part of collecting...at least for me it is Big Grin God forbid we all end up like James (DM4U) Laugh Out Loud

autobot is a great guy and he really takes superb care of his boxes ,i know the conion was as nice as they come and i'm glad he didnt ship it cos usually thats the end of a good box.

You're right Floyd, and thanks for the work you did on this unit! I love it!

- 2009-03-06 20:22

floyd did tons of work to this box: installed the dial lights, tore down the tape decks, did a major cleaning job overall, sanded and repainted the speaker grills. lots of hours went into bringing this box back to life, glad she has a new home. Nod Yes

Very cool!! My favorite boombox purchases have been meeting up with the seller, too!! That is the way to go for sure! Both times I met up with the seller in person, I loaded up the new boombox with batteries and set it in the passenger seat and listened to it on the drive home. Great times!!
