Hifitom should be named "Terrific Tom"!

Once again I cannot state how great a guy Hifitom is. As some may not be aware, we traded boxes a year ago. He sent me a Telefunken Hi-Fi Studio 1 and I sent him a JVC PC-55.

The 'Funken arrived pretty banged up leaving it dysfunctional. Tom was excellent along the way fighting with DHL in Europe while I fought here in the 'States. It appears to no avail even with photos.

Regardless, Tom sent me a spare center section he had. It arrived this weekend. And DHL got some of it too. (Bass knob shaft broke off, ferrite AM bar knocked loose, and tuning battery meter floating around inside.Frown) But not enough that I could not take the two "Half-A-Funkens" and make a whole fully functioning one!

Now I know, I truly know, what Tom meant. Yes, as great as my CP-7 is once you turn up the heat, The Studio one puts a blitzkreig on it. My RX-C100? Yeah, right. The Sanyo C-9 will scream like hell blow for blow, but doesn't sound nearly as sweet. The only one, that did go neck and neck, was the Pioneer CK-5.

At normal listening volumes, well, things are way more even, and even favor some of the others in my collection. But when driven hard, the Studio 1 is hard, if not impossible, to beat.

And my wife thinks it's the best looking one I have! That and she's happy too since she cried more about it than I did, even though only one channel halfway worked on the first one, she still fell in love with it. She said I could never sell it. Laugh Out Loud

Pics to follow elsewhere on the site. Smile

Jow Fred

... I hate DHL. I can't believe it ... what are they doing with these packets? Playing football with it? Put in a photo of the first M1 arrived at your house, and how the packet looked ... unbelivable ...

... and by the way - thank you Fred for the flowers, but I knew the M1 (and I know we think the same about how a bbox should sound) is your taste, and that you should have a full-working one (even they brake the bass button - grrr!). I'm very happy that you like it!

Gonne send you some photos (what you ask me about PM) soon!

Best wishes to you and yours
TOM

Very cool guys! Tom you sound like an awesome seller. Hopefully I will buy from you soon.
BTW,DHL isn't the only bad guy in shipping. Check out my FedEx shipping thread I just started. Fed Ex damage.
