Thanks guys. BTW, this was a trade deal. I had two Vector VMC-100's. We agreed to sawp one for a PC-11 he said he had available because they are twins and thought it would be neat to have the clone of the PC-11 and vice versa. Big Grin

jaredscottfla - 2008-11-15 22:32

Well sound was NOT the main reason I wanted one. I wanted the kinfolk to the Vector. And truthfully, the Vector kicks the snot out of it soundwise. (The Vector has seven EQ bands and a loudness function.) Smile

71spud - 2008-11-18 11:20

My "side" of the story puts a (slightly) different perspective on the story . I wanted to wait to post until I had things 100% ironed out with Oldy (who I have been in contact with for a couple of months now despite what people think). I had been away from S2G for a few months (but not entirely out of communication with Oldy as he knew I did not have a working PC-11 to send him) and the thread was started and my account suspended in the meantime so I couldn't even see it. When I got back on and saw the thread, and the comments made by people that had no reason on their own to doubt me or pass judgement I got pretty pissed off and I felt if I posted to that thread it would just make matters worse. (Some of them trashing me have sent me boxes that were nowhere near the condition they stated, but I never called them out on that. I just let it go) But I decided I still have interest in continuing my collection and contributing to the community so here I am...

The short version is Oldy and I had talked about trading his Vector for a PC-11. At the time I had two PC-11's on the way from e-bay. Oldy sent off the Vector before I had the PC-11s in-hand. One PC-11 arrived damaged due to poor packing and the other did not have a working deck (the seller said it did). I had nothing to send Oldy and I wanted to fix the good PC-11 to send off to him. In the meantime my work situation changed and I was sent away from home for weeks and weeks at a time with literally maybe one day a month off. I could not fix the PC-11. I still don't have time to do so but I found another PC-11 on ebay for parts and I bought that and had it sent direct to Oldy so maybe he could fix it if I sent off my cosmetically good PC-11. Then another PC-11 in great shape came up so I bought that and had it sent direct to Oldy. He is apparently happy with that one, it is 100% working. I have spent almost $200 to get him a nice near mint PC-11 and I have his Vector that is worth maybe half that. I never intended to not follow through with the trade.

So there you go....

vladi123456 - 2008-11-18 11:37

71spud, welcome back!
Hope you don't take all this too serious - you know how they say - what doesnt kill us - makes us stronger Smile

masterblaster84 - 2008-11-18 13:29

71spud that's a good brief description of what happened, many or all of us held out hope that the situation wasn't as bad as it sounded. So many of us have been burned trying to buy boomboxes that we're a little quick to judge when we hear something other than quick and perfect transactions.

I think we're all glad it ended well and that we didn't lose anybody over it. Smile

vladi123456 - 2008-11-18 13:31

Don, well said Smile

fatdog - 2008-11-18 15:02

Joel, I'm glad to see you back. I talked with Freddie the other night on the phone and he gave me the rundown on the whole story. You're right, it wasn't as bad as it seemed. Communication is key. Nod Yes

spud makes the day Nod Yes thanks for coming back and forgive us for talking what we did not know ..and that everything is back to normal Nod Yes hey who ate my chalupa Eek

71spud - 2008-11-18 16:40

I also want to say I am sorry for both the delay in completing the trade and the times of non-communication. It was a bit more complicated on my end than the short version above. And I don't think anyone would believe the workload that I was responsible for if I told you. But while I have lots of reasons for how things played out I realize they are not excuses. (FYI my ebay activities this fall were pretty much on autopilot the whole time and I am just now opening most of the boxes. However none of that had any effect (+or-) on my ability to get a nice PC-11 for oldy. At least until a nice example came up last week. :-) )

That being said it sure doesn't take much blood in the water to set some of you guys off does it... And I really didn't appreciate the personal info that was posted to this thread...

But let's all just move on.... Nothing to see here...

thafuzz - 2008-11-18 18:44

Glad to have you back SpudMan. I hope your work schedule/life is better as well. Wink
