I think Vladi is making a reasonable, and relevant request. Anyone can throw a name up here. Back it up with some info from your purchasing experience so there is no question.

redbenjoe - 2008-11-23 15:07

ok - the details :

i won a box from this seller --the listing said it sounded great -
it arrived here with huge empty spaces around both speakers --about 250 degrees of both surrounds were shot-
there was hardly any usable sound.

these big gaps HAD TO be obvious to this seller (who deals in boomboxes )--
so it could not have possibly sounded any better than terrible -- BEFORE it was shipped.

the seller claimed that i must have caused this damage by testing it "too hard" --and further said that "older boomboxes are not supposed to sound like new"
we did negotiate a small refund --
_________________________-

on a later unrelated ebay win --he was the runner-up bidder -- it was from a seller that i knew --this same XXC jerk -- sent a quick email to that seller -- to offer him MORE $ -- if it got shipped to him -- instead of me Mad
--------------------

--i advise all not to buy from this seller.

redbenjoe - 2008-11-23 16:45

was just thinking ..... Smile

i responded to the 'details' requests from PF and vladi (above) --but it was sort of like re-living a grueling , boring experience --
the type we all like to forget about -- foeever!!

this entire thread does have such a worthwhile intention --
however --this thread is now 30 months old -and look how few have contributed Frown

as active as we all are --there may have been 500 combined bad deals over 30 months --
yet we have reported less than 5% !!!!
---------------------

as a personal note --
to me --ALL these phases of our terrific/FUN hobby -- are sort of a blast :
winning , losing, selling , not selling, trading
modding ---and above all using/enjoying our boxes. Big Grin
-----------------------

one of our 'smarter' members Smile in a very recent post -- has 'rationalized' that an occasional bad deal is part of 'the price of admission' to all this fun - I Agree

--------------------
so --my suggestion is that :
we ALL should report to warn each other re ALL bad/questionable sellers --

but IMHO -
no details are required
can we just list the name --and say
'bad experience -- stay away' ?

i dont want to be argumentative --this is just my 2 cents about this valuable s2g thread -

OK ? agree?

jaredscottfla - 2008-11-23 17:38

I AgreeWhole heartdly Ira,That was My intention When I startedc The Thread.
Btw U Did Not Post Any Fb For XXc .At Least I did Not See it on Ebay. To Go Along With Posting Here I think If the Deal went South For one reason or another Posting Neg Fb For a Crummy Seller is an Absolute MUST!
Ebay's New Fb system is A Joke,This We All have Discussed ad Nauseum,But as Buyers Can still drop The Red Bomb on The Sellers W/o Fear of a Retalitory Fb,If a Deal is Bad and The Seller is Crummy ,and warrant Their Ebay Rep Being tarnished here in This Thread ,It Clearly Makes Absolutly No sense NOT to drop a Neg FB on Them on Ebay as well. The potential useage of This Thread would Be Greatly Enhanced. NO DOUBT! Btw,This Xc Guy Has alot of BBx's For sale Now,the only one i even Remotly care for is A Sony Cfs 61 s,Which I allready Have,Most of His Stuff Is GARBAGE,and in Very Poor Shape. This Thread was intended at Least on My part When I started it to Be a Sort of Helpul Hint,Members who Fail to Read it,or Don't post well there You Go Cavaet Emptor.

redbenjoe - 2008-11-23 18:03

btw -- after all that , jared --
forgot to thank you for starting this important thread --
i really hate to leave NFB --
because i always hope a boombox seller will 'get the point' and get in shape Smile

this thread has over 2,600 readers --so then , it is then being used --we just have so few reports.

jaredscottfla - 2008-11-23 18:14

No Worries Ira,As i Explained In another Thread in The Sale Section,I think We Should also Start a Super Seller Thread. I don't Buy as often as i used to But I think A thread like That Could Be Beneficial, irespective of a Sellers Fb or Length of Time on Ebay.
I know Your Heart is in the right place but hoping a seller cleans up their act i think is coming up a little short,ESPECIALLY if the deal is SIGNIFIGANTLY not as Described or Packing is Piss poor and The Item Never Has a Chance To Arrive in one piece,Believe me,I have Had the gammet From Garbage Bags To Shoe Boxes To old Smelly Towels To Diapers! Btw The Diapers one was Clean, and That Box arrived Solidly in great shape! Big Grin

vladi123456 - 2008-11-23 23:41

I think just saying that some seller is bad - is not AS helpful as providing a little info on what happened. Besides, Dr. Vladi recommends sharing the bad experiences because the sharerer will feel better after they can b*tch about something Smile

jaredscottfla - 2008-11-24 16:37

Nod Yes

johnnygto - 2009-01-17 18:31

add this guy to the list-

seller: cathinc

on ebay

this seller stated item was in "GOOD" condition and it showed up horrible looking with rust covering speaker grilles a seperated case and the aluminum trim looking like it had been clean with a brillo pad, wiping out control lettering, never responded to my concerns, had to get paypal involved to get my money back... would of not left him negative feedback but he started sending me complaining emails.. so I did, first one I ever left Frown

Add Ebay user war-hoop to the list of bad sellers.

I had bid on a Sharp GF9500 box about a month ago, and just before the auction was over it was still sitting at the opening bid price ($9.99). Seller did not state in the auction that it was locally for sale, then ended the auction with the reason "item no longer for sale".

After ignoring my original Ebay message asking why the item was pulled, he listed it back up yesterday. When I messaged him again (admittedly, I unloaded somewhat on him), his response was that he was unhappy with the interest in the item so he pulled it.

This is SELLERS REMORSE, no different then buyers remorse when someone bids then doesn't pay for the item afterwords. Ebay should not allow asshats like this person to do business like this. I could understand if it was pulled early for a error in listing (to allow the seller to re list it at a different price): however, doing it like this is indefensible.

Basically, the seller screwed me out of a deal because he didn't want to sell it at the price he listed the box for, in the final hours of the auction. Who knows, maybe others would have bid with sniping software at the last moment and bidded it up beyond my last minute snipe bid (set for $60). We'll never know now.

If you aren't going to be an ethical seller, don't sell. It's pretty simple, you get called out when you pull crap like this.

jaredscottfla - 2009-03-11 22:09

I Agree Mad

masterblaster84 - 2009-03-12 08:10

I Agree PF.
This is why I put the starting prices on my items only as low as I'm comfortable selling it for. If nobody wants to pay my starting price then I'll keep the item with no regrets. Sometimes I use a reserve price with a low starting price to spark interest but the reserve is still only as low as I'm comfortable with.

Some people say start the auctions low, maybe $1, and let people set the price. That's fine if you want to sell at any cost but when I sell something I'm not usually selling it because I have to it's because I choose to so there is no reason to risk selling it at any price.

jaredscottfla - 2009-03-12 08:16

SmileExactly
I Have Had Several Sellers End Auctions Early,Saying There was An Error in The listing only to relist at a higher Starting Price.
Def Selling Violation,Ebay just seems very slow in punishing bad sellers. Frown

jamescyberjoe - 2009-06-05 12:55

This is impossible to catalog.
The bad apples change their id's often and sometimes even a good seller will sell a dud.
I take each auction individually unless the seller is a known scumbag. Then I stay away.

jaredscottfla - 2009-06-05 13:19

No No wrong
not the purpose of the thread, duh!

True, but there are those who do not change id's, or are slow to do so. The point of this topic is to share the knowledge so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not do business with folks who demonstrate a poor selling history.

This topic "outs" the scumbags. The value of the info here is highest when folks put their info here in a timely fashion. I always look at this topic before buying from someone new.

redbenjoe - 2009-08-11 16:20

AVOID this ebay seller forever--

boom_bastic1962.
