I made a purchase on Nov 24th and paid Nov 25th. I am paying $120 for airmail shipping from Hong Kong (the only option offered) I have asked 3 times about the status of my order. I cannot tell if he is saying that the order is shipped and he is checking on it or if he still has to ship it. Nevermind if any of it is true... I am trying to figure out what he is really telling me.
This is his response to me on Dec 5th when I asked about my order---

And now I looked at the auction page and all of a sudden his ebay feedback is now listed as "Private". And he has no current auctions even though he is a "powerseller". This is not usually a good sign. I am worried I am going to be stuck with nothing.
What do you guys think he is telling me?
Hi,
Not sure what he's telling you but if you paid using Paypal and worse comes to worse you will get your money back.I have had 3 recent Ebay deals go bad and did get full refunds from Paypal even though the sellers refused to give refunds, but it may take a month or so.

If there is a time limitation issue, submit the Ebay claim for Item Not Received/file the Paypal claim IMMEDIATELY. If the box arrives, you can always send him the $$$ back.

spud --did the seller have a good feedback specifically from buyers in the USA ?
ok.
so yeah i was the guy at work who dealt with the numerous and many customers from hong kong.
i can say this.
i would cover my butt with this guy.
that being said it would appear he is saying.
dont worry if you dont have it in a week you can have your money back.
i think thats what he is saying.
would i trust it.
not a fn chance
He was(is) a powerseller with around 2500 feedback, been around since July of 02, feedback was in unbroken english. Some neutrals and negatives, but nothing out of the ordinary these days and nothing in areas that was concerned about. Nobody was saying they never got their items or packing was bad or shipping was slow.... (I just did a google cache search on his ID and grabbed his feedback from Dec 5th)
I did file a PayPal dispute with basically a cut and paste what I have above with some more details on my purchase. (Which was not a box BTW... but it was vintage electronics)
I would post a link the auction, but all the pictures are down...
Thanks for the advise! I will let you know what happens.
Good luck on that 71spud.
Thanks.... I would really rather not be out $320... ($200+$120 shipping).... I think one way or another I will be OK... I see on the auction page that it was PayPal Guaranteed. So if it shows up and is a piece of carp I will dispute as well. And I think I am covered if it doesn't show too....
No response... no package. I filed a PayPal dispute last week, but they gave him 10 DAYS!!!!! to respond. It seems a little long to me.... and he has not responded yet. I sent him another message today via the ebay message system....
quote:
It has been another week with no response from you. No tracking number, no communication, no package. You have taken your feedback private and have received another negative since doing that so I filed a paypal dispute for my own protection. It has been a week and you said you would refund my money if my item did not show up. Please refund my money immediately. All $320 of it......
spud --the 10 day wait is plenty long when $320 is on the line --
you need to upgrade your dispute to a full CLAIM today --thats is a paypal option --
then you will have prevented even some additional delays.
you WILL get the 100% paypal refund --
and there is nothing to lose by expediting this annoying process.
It looks like when I filed the dispute I must have hit the option to upgrade to a full claim right away. Otherwise it would have been 20 days of dancing around before it would have been a claim. He then had 10 days to respond... (December 27th) if he doesn't respond I get the funds back.(Probably not immediately.... if PayPal can justify holding onto money for 1 extra minute they will) If he does respond it could mean more review and delay. So I guess I am better off if he ignores everything..
you are right --if he never replys --you win the claim sooner.
also if he didn't ship it with tracking they will refund your money. but you need to check to see if he shipped it a cheaper way then air mail. you maybe able to do a dispute if it comes and he shipped it a cheaper way then what you paid for. I did that once. I paid for the fast shipping and a guy sent to parsal post. I ended up getting the differance back.
