sinister - 2009-08-11 17:15

is the auction still up? Nod Yes

Frown Frown

panasonic.fan - 2009-08-13 08:46

That seller has a boat load of recent boombox auctions. A Big Ben in need of deck work for $149, lots of cheap sales. There are notes on some about what is wrong, interested to hear more about your experience Ira.

panasonic.fan - 2009-08-17 12:13

Ira, it makes you look like the one to avoid when you just drop in, talk trash about a seller with no details to back it up, then ignore requests for clarification.

jt - 2009-08-19 07:49

I agree that an explanation as to why he feels this way would be helpful to make a point, but I don't think its absolutely necessary.

When someone who has as good of a track record buying and selling booboxes as Ira does, takes the time to post a warning of this nature on a site he doesn't frequent so much anymore, then I see that as him looking out for his fellow boombox brothers (and sisters).

And that's good enough for me.

jaredscottfla - 2009-08-19 07:55

I Agree

panasonic.fan - 2009-08-19 11:34

Sure, but how does that benefit those who do not know the regulars (past or present)? Providing the details allows everyone here to process the information and serve the purpose of leaving feedback (good or bad):

to inform.

It doesn't matter who leaves the feedback, it's the quality of the information left that benefits everyone. Opinions (IE, "the guy is an A-hole"), don't really serve that purpose when that's 50% of the information provided.

What does help?

Details like when/how the item was purchased, quality of packaging, accuracy of item received against what was described (so many folks have done an awesome job with this- posting great pictures really helps to validate comments).

That's what I am getting at.

Thanks for the warning Ira, and it would be great to see you follow up with additional details.

panasonic.fan - 2009-08-20 07:16

A shame you can't see the value in using this section for it's stated purpose. I made a perfectly reasonable and legitimate request for clarification, and even went as far as to explain why it is important.

The rest of your comments are childish, and indicative of how you treat this site these days. Why bother showing up at all to spew ridiculous hate? Surely there are better places for that. If you can't stand being asked questions by me you should just run along to your little fan club and stay there. Nobody wants to hear it over here.

It's sad to see what this site has become...It is why I am never/ever around.I sold at least 20 of the MOST WANTED BOOMBOXES PRIVATELY and never even made an offer on this site for fear of such distractions and in fighting. The professionalism is gone.Infighting, name calling and just plain dropping dimes is what this site has become and it is ad because although i do not know a number of you guys personally,i do know that a number of you guys(and girls) are also TRUE BOOMBOX PROS.Maybe just staying true to what this sites original intentions were is what you all need to do.You are not fighting the powers that be but fighting amongst yourselves.I made some mistakes too,but i learned from them.I hope and pray you guys get yourselves UNITED and get back to what your true mission is and that mission is a Boombox knowledge base that is unique and distinguished in it's own right.Good Luck to all/god Bless you all and may Peace prevail with you all....kindly,Bklynboombox & Fiberran........

In my opinion, one should not HAVE to ask questions.....Every problem with the box should already be described in the auction.

Well, well, well...most of the problems eh?!?

To quote a famous TV show, "I don't think so Tim." You see, those who don't know you, (The former DECENTMAN4U - Your posting style and videos gave you away genius.), will soon discover that regardless of what you say this boombox hobby is all about, you don't adhere to it. See, your videos, photos, and general hoarding represent what and how you treat and see these classic machines. No doubt about it. Not only that, though honor may not be in your vocabulary (as ED said - Dictionary?) one of the big things about this site that WAS an attraction to me is how everyone HELPED each other out. By the mere fact that you are here under another psuedonym makes you no different than a liqour store that loses it business license, waits a month, changes it's name, and reopens. Roll Eyes

And let me straighten you out on something regarding "The Other Place". We don't play games, don't have to hide behind moderators and can police ourselves. Unfortunately for you, you cannot step up to that level. You wish you could see what we have going on. See, I can tell you first hand what's happening there is collecting in the (let me help you spell it) "Purest Sense". Roll Eyes

And while I'm at it, as this is Ira's thread and I KNOW I can respond to it as I see fit because it's HIS thread...Ira is gold in the collecting community. He has helped me and others SEVERAL times to get what we were looking for even buying for others until it could be afforded. How's that for a testimony. (Oh, no one can say that about you right?) But I don't carp about it publicly because Ira doesn't want that. And until now, I honored it.

So, like so many "Oldskool" members here, who might lurk at best in "the old hood", I do the same, posting occasionaly. Because, yes, I am in the new hood. And it's guys like you, and others who I've no need to mention, that drove me and others away. I've had my silly moments, but I dare say that 90% of my posts were on point or of technical assistance. I can't recall too many useful moments from you. No No

So you do your thing here. You'll show yourself. And keep this in mind "cassettekid4U", I saved those posts where there were disputes. The truth is out there, and it's on my hard drive... Tap Toes
