The worst packing ever?

vladi123456 - 2008-02-21 07:45

I bought this Sharp GF-500 on ebay a few days ago, and last night I got it. Check out the second pic - when I opened the box - I almost fell on my butt - all he used for packing was nothing and 2 blue *sticks* - I'm not sure why he even put them in the box.
MUCH to my surprise - no cracks, FM stereo works great, both tape decks play at correct speeds, fast forward and rewind work and so does tape counter. I'm almost starting to think that packing is what ruins boomboxes in shipping - look - no bubble-wrap - no damage!! Laugh Out Loud
The boombox itself is in a really good cosmetical condition - I really shouldn't complain - it cost me a whole $27!! Eek

Thats freaking hillarious Vladi, I just laughed my a$$ off the chair.

I'm glad it arrived without damage, that's very hard to believe. I've had that same model and I actually liked it except that it is weak on the bass. Cool

Maybe shipping companies consider a well-packed box to be a challenge to see if they can get it to break. Wink Laugh Out Loud While packing jobs like the above make them more careful. By the way, I think I excreted more material out of body last night than what is in that box. Laugh Out Loud

i'm happy for you, things could have been alot worse

retro.addict - 2008-03-04 10:34

Shocking Eek ... but funny! Big Grin

I don't know why the seller even put it in that box! It would have been just as well protected in two binliners! Laugh Out Loud

Glad it arrived undamaged! Nod Yes Cool

LOL! Big Grin Big Grin
Reminds me of my GF-8585 from ebay, stood in a box with one flat piece of polystyrene underneath and a flat piece of foam on top. Arrived undamaged. Eek

Just like when i bought my black GF 9191.
It could travel around in the packing box. Nothing around the 9191 , absolute nothing.
Arrived in totally perfect shape.

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-06 11:37

You guys are very lucky. Smile
It cracks me up everytime I see Vladi's pic of his Sharp in the box. Is this a testament to the quality of sharp or just proof that random extreme luck does exist?

ao - 2008-03-06 11:41

I had one in a dusbin liner with a single strand of selotape round it. It was spotless.

Who needs double-boxed bubble wrapped jobs.

The whole thing cost me like $39 - $27 for the boombox and $12 for shipping - so he did charge me for the layers of air on BOTH sides of Sharp Laugh Out Loud

I guess that when the delivery services feel something rattling around inside, they don't want to be liable for damages and so they probably handle these boxes with extreme care.

Still, I wouldn't take the risk!
