AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!
JVC M70 - just arrived: Right speaker has very little sound output, left speaker plays normal for 20 minutes then volume fades and sound gets scratchy.
BBX represented as fully tested and fully functional.
I want to rip this guys a$$ off!
Anyone know the fix for this problem??
Man...you aren't very lucky with e-Bay...maybe it's time to do what i do...local finds and PICK UP's only, or maybe just buy from some of the good trusted members here.
-gsbadbmr
Oh no!
These threads make me sick!
Sorry to hear about this tburick.
Is there any recourse you can take with the seller, ebay, paypal?
totally s--ks
I know those troubles.
Last one with
this box.
The story sounds unbelieveable.
The problem is also how the person tested it.
Maybe only plugging in for one minute - plays - ok, writing everythings ok.
Maybe damages from shipping?
First clean all contacts and try a look inside.
How much did you pay for it?
I hope not too much and you get it working.
im not a big fan of buying boxes from ebay unless they are priced very well and always expect the unexpected. sorry it happened to you , hopefully it will all work out ok
Try spraying Deoxit on the volume, bass, treble and balance pot.
Can you tell us the eBay seller's nick?
I think all of us probably have had a similar story on eBay, so is good that we share this information.
Best regards.

I've been too ashamed to talk about my SOUNDLAB RSD-900 I got off ebay! The item was listed as "GREAT" condition with small icon pics all mixed together!
I got it because it looked diffrent and thought it'd be nice to have.. $200!!! Wrong!!!
RUST, Seperated case, scratched to he_hockey sticks.
I had to get paypal to refund my money. Not a good deal at all! I haven't left him feedback yet.. dunno what to do there.. he never communicated with me at all!
Johnny
I just got a *mint* radio, fully tested.... with no power cord (takes a special one) and batteries in it that I can prove are at LEAST 30 years old. Does it work? I will be damned if I know. To top it off my new D cells won't even fit. Too big. I will have to pound them down to fit in...
Wow, sorry to hear all the ebay stories!! Leave those sellers negative feeback! So they know better next time

I hate to do that, and also hate to see someone else get taken advantage of! I got my money back - not willingly though, but this guy is a scammer.. NO DOUBT!

request for tom, johnny and joel ---
in case any of these three sellers are 'regular' ebay boombox listers --
well - the ebay feedback is always your personal style --
but for the benefit of us members ........
we have a 'crummy sellers' thread on our own feedback forum. (unfortunately)

I noticed this guy in Green Bay, Wisconsin (USA) that is selling a lot of nice stuff. I must live withing a few miles of him but he is not eager to have some unknown possible weirdo stop at his house to look at his treasures. Understandable. Maybe I should buy something inexpensive first. He didn't even want me to do a local pick-up!?! BTW, ebay name is goodstuffsold. It really is amazing the volume of stuff he sells--cheap if you ask me!
M70 update:
A real disappointment. I tore the entire unit apart - filthy inside and out. Sprayed Deoxit in all controls repeatedly - good news is that it solved the unbalanced speaker volume issue and the fading volume issue -- bad news is that the treble control is dead. Pretty sure it's a bad slider.
Thoroughly scrubbed the front and rear shell in the utility sink. Did not clean up very well - cosmetically "fair" at best.
For $200 + shipping, I got an M70 "beater" box.
I realized that ebay descriptions are obviously in another language and require translation (from the M70 sellers ebay description):
Very Good: Item or items are showing some signs of age. The item or items have superficial surface scratches and/or blemishes and are more visible than if in excellent condition. Item or items could be made to look alot better with a good cleaning and/or polishing.
TRANSLATION: This product fell off the moon, crash landed in a cow pasture. Eaten by the cow. Fell out of the cow's a$$, where we found it. Listed on ebay and sold to you.
Fully tested: All functions were tested and in working order.
TRANSLATION: We place your product on the floor for our 4 year old son to play with. He flips some switches, forces open the cassette door, and then colors on the face of the radio with crayons. Oh, and we don't plug it in as that would be dangerous for our kid.

I hope it wasn't one of those sellers from China, xd62 or whatever their name is now.

I have bought from him before. I think you can trust his stuff. I bought a Sony SFC-W301 and a Starlite from him within a few days of eachother last May. Shipping (USPS Priority) was to be about $20 and $15 respectively. He combined it and sent both for $20 total. The boxes were packed well and as good as, or better than described. And I paid $78 for everything, including shipping, WI tax and the boxes themselves.
oh, I forgot to say that there was some confusion in invoicing and getting the discounted shipping corrected (originally the combined shipping was more than the individual shippings added up). As a result he sent me a small vintage Panasonic am/fm transistor radio as a free-bie. (totally unsolicited)
I think his resistence to local pick-up is that I know he does ebay with his wife and she is probably the one who is home most of the time...
I could be very flexable for picking up. I just don't want to buy something really nice and have to go through the expense and possible damage from shipping in my own city--population 100,000. The guys that live in Germany get stuff from their area, the guys in Asia get stuff where they are. I think it's not asking too much to get something where I am...I really want to know how he accumulates so much good stuff...
Now that I have this new LASONIC "i" and have no place to put it, may be awhile before I get anything else...I'm serious. Where do you put the thing?

Funny translations Tom, but oh so sad too!

Just requested a $100 refund from the seller. Stay tuned.
No more ebay junk for me. Tired of getting burned. Three bad radios in a row is enough.

I have had a pretty bad run of luck lately myself that can be traced to sellers that are less than honest about their product and not very careful about packing and shipping. I am going to hold some of their feet to the fire and require better documentation as to the condition of the product and photo documentation of their packing. I am also telling them HOW I want it packed. Some of it may fall on deaf ears.... but it is worth a shot and there is always the ability to make a PayPal claim. I used to be more forgiving, but not anymore...
johnnygto -- thanks for adding your ordeal to the crummy sellers list --
these feedback threads --all get buried after a few days --but that list above STAYS UP THERE-

No problem, Ira, I might be adding one more if my item doesn't show!
I'll give him a chance, but have warned him if I don't get my radio by the time my feedback window is about to close (90 DAYS!!!) he should prepare himself for a "NEGATIVE"!!!
Johnny
thanks
You need to file a PayPal dispute right away... I used to be a nice guy who tried to settle things on my own... no more...

Spud is right, once I feel a deal is going south with no help from seller, Paypal here I come! I am 100% polite down to moment the seller begins not to be.
I am being told right now by a seller that it's only a $2XX.00 box! Why would I not ship it and cheat you!!! I dunno, but you said 3-4 weeks and its been 9... I trust you but I have to protect myself too. Here I come Paypal!

Sorry again to hear all that - hope you'll get your refund!
