All I wanted was my Walkman, I didn't get it I opened a Claim, I even told him if it showed up I would send the money to him.  There was no information at DHL to track the package.  What could I do.  I guess stop collecting walkmans and never buy anything from ebay again.

No. Without both sides of the story and some factual evidence neither of you have your reputations tarnished.

While it's possible the mix-up happened in shipping, a tracking number should have traced it's origin at some point. I do agree with you that by opening a case before the time limit expires is the only way to protect yourself, but it is also a way to move the resolution between both of you is a more diligent manner. Remember it takes 2 to negotiate.

I hope for both members this can be resolved without tarring and feathering each other.

To be fair, both seller and buyer are agreeing to the same course of events.  The villain here is eBay, eBay should NOT refund the buyer in these cases but they do, it's their 'new' policy.  Things go missing in the post, it happens, it happens to me.  Even with a tracked service things still go missing.  If eBay create a system whereby a buyer can attempt to get their money back when something goes missing then it's no crime for the buyer to take it.  It's their rules.  it's wrong, but it's their rules.  Worse still, is that it causes this kind of resentment.

We know both parties pretty well on this forum and both seem pretty OK to us, so it's clear that neither are the villain here.  Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Corry over-reacted slightly due to the unfairness of the situation and martymcfly is clearly protecting himself as most of us would.

Sadly guys, this is what now happens in these circumstances, it's eBay policy.  I'd love to suggest that maybe if you both agree to split the fee things will iron themselves out but I can hardly blame Martymcfly if he chooses not to, especially after Corry's initial 'over-reaction'.  So, can I urge you both to agree to disagree and then we'll close these posts so no permanent damage is done.

I DO NOT HAVE THE WALKMAN I DO NOT HAVE THE WALKMAN.  TRACK IT YOURSELF YOU WILL SEE IT HAS NOT BEEN DELIVERED.  YOUR FIRST WALKMAN TOOK 2 WEEKS I CONTACTED YOU 9 DAYS AFTER TO GET THE TRACKING NUMBER DIDN'T OPEN A CLAIM UNTIL THE END OF WEEK 3.
