Maybe these are currently going for high prices because people need them for news articles or videos celebrating the 30th birthday.

Very surprising to see those high prices.

I wouldn't pay that much for a cassette player.

I wouldn't buy one for that either!! But I just may sell one--like my WM-1. I don't have a real emotional attachement to it so if someone wants it way more than me I will list it on epay. I'll let you all know.
One one hand it's great that our investments/hobby is in demand. On the other, I never collected to make money, I just like em. Now we have to contend with prices being bid up. I got to the party a couple years too late.

Yeah, yeah, I know, sold out etc. had to do it, got too many of these lying around. Delivered the walkman by hand today, nice guy too. He loves it.

Well, amongst all the buying frenzy of TPS-L2's I bought two.
One is branded Walkman, and needs a new belt and cost me €20.51+postage, the other is unbranded, works well, and was €75.
Neither came with earphones, just the blue "leather" case.

And here's another one! Item 220471953207. Considering one side as vendor says `needs a little tune up'!!! Some of us are sitting on a fortune!

These high prices are why I'm going to dip my toes in with equipment like the WM-1 and WM-22. They at least still look cool - as cool as the first-gen brick, anyway...
