Finding the manufacture dates for Aiwa and Sony Walkmans

Is there a way to find the dates an Aiwa or Sony walkman was manufactured by looking at the serial numbers or UPC codes? I have come across a huge lot of un-opened Walkmans and while I can find information on some models on line, many of the models are a little hard to find information on.
You've found a huge lot of unopened walkmans? OK, prepare to make a lot of friends.
It's possible to give dates for model numbers yes but I know not of an online resource for this. That said, I'm pretty sure the board-members here could give you dates if you list the models. If your 'lot' has Aiwa/Sony units from the eighties then you may be sitting on quite a find, sadly however, if they're from the nineties you might want to leave them.
Post a list or send it to me via PM & we'll give you dates. Make sure you send model number i.e. 'Sony DD9' rather than serial number i.e. 'SN82 24234 3HH88999823' as these are tough to trace.
