Hello People, Went to my favorite thrift store and picked up a sony wm-50 for $4 bucks. Please note that pink is not my choice of color and that I bought it for my collection. I was so hoping it would work good but unfortunately when I put a battery in it it wouldn't work. So tried the power jack on the side and she powered up! Although she plays slow it at least sounds good. I am thinking it just needs a belt but I am not a pro when it comes to fixing these gems.

i bought one just like it from the guy on ebay who had 100 untested cassette players for sale. i paid 12.50 delivered. it was not running. no problem !!! the belt was stretched and not turning the motor. it is the same basic platform as the old wm-10. all the same basics except the wire that acts as a spring for the battery door which must be slid up through the door opening to become the spring tension. i never did one and it's easier than the wm-10. the sound is just the same quality also. if you have a touch of skill don't be afraid of this pink lady.
Thanks for you're input guys. There is no corrosion in the battery compartment. But i do see the clip rerooted is talking about. In any case I am in no hurry to fix it I will just keep it with my other walkmans that need belts. They will be projects for me later. I can't help but wonder how good of a seller pink walkman's were. I do have another pink sister it is sort of a metallic colour but she also needs a belt. The other 2 walkmans beside her work fine.
