Hello all. Just bought myself an aiwa HS-JX810 on ebay. Anyone know much about this player. Looks a bit more basic than say a jx505 or 707. I presume it came after both these models, when sadly aiwa were making machines of lesser quality. I think the 707 was the last great player they made. Cheers.
Hi there!
Yes, jx810 is a newer model but it's not that new. It should be quite good I think. Aiwa always had good tuners on their jx series and the playback quality was well above average. It is more a question of condition you are getting it. I've seen that auction and even considered of bidding but i am short on money right now but I think you got yourself a good machine.
Yea, To be honest i'd be suprised if it works. The seller selling it as non working, but he said he didn't test it. Looks in good condition, and was very cheap. Fingers crossed. Also bought a HS-PX910 for a bargain price. I reckon it was the best cassette player aiwa ever made. It had an LCD inline remote and four sound presets. Again seller was not sure if it worked, so i'm taking a chance. Only missing its case. Would hope to pick one up on ebay with a bit of luck. Cheers!
The HS-JX859 is better has quick reverse, uses laser to switch sides and four sound presets plus BBE sound and 12mw+12mw headphone sound stage ehich can drive highend headsets, only thing missing is Dobly C.
It is well equipped alright, but a bit more bulky. I think the earlier machines were better made and more compact, but thats just my opinion.
Hello all. Just received that PX-910 i got on ebay. I tell you, this guy must have found this thing in a skip. I wouldn't have the neck to sell this thing if it was mine. Door hanging off. Making weird sqeeling noises. The LCD display not working on the remote, which the seller did mention. Pure and utter junk. This adds to the list of lemons i bought on ebay. A JX-707 i paid $100 for that was hacked at when i opened it. Seller had no tapes to check if it was working. Then there was another JX-707, this time $180. Working fine i was told. Get it and won't rewind or fastforward. And then the biggest lemon of them all, a JX-3000. This time 375 euro. Mint, hardly used i wae told. Everything working perfect. Get it in the post and it won't play, fast forward or rewind. Also only one headphone working. I tell you, i am giving up buying walkmans on ebay. Only other peoples junk for sale on it. I'm sure there are bargains to be had on it, but i've not come accross any. I bought a HS-JX2000 back in 1991 i think, and its in the same condition now as the day it was bought. I beleive in looking after things. Anyway, thats life my friends.
Been having the same problem on eBay to, getting junk, so now just buying only "New In The Box" end up having to pay more for the units, but having very good luck with these.
As far as the junk goes, just file a claim with paypal "significantly not as described" write up a receipt by someone else what the problem is, and they reverse the charge, worked a few time already.
I bought them all from ebay Germany. Money transfer, no paypal. So i have no comeback really. I agree with what your saying. But i can never find boxed examples of the models i want. I have been searching for a panasonic RQ-S80 for a while now. No joy. Also i would love a HS-JX3000 in mint condition, but no joy there either. Seen them on taobao in China, but can't bid on them. These are the only models i am really after. Anyway, i'm giving up now.
Hello all. I've just received my HS-JX810. This thing is like new. The sound out of it is awesome. At last i have got a bargain on ebay. The only problem with it is this, it won't rewind. I was hoping DrMR2000 might know what the problem is with it, he seems to be a genious at fixing these things. Cheers.

It a slipping belt, and lack of torque, will cause the unit not to rewind or the transport not to go in rewind. doubt it anything serious being other fuctions work still.
Yep. Everything else works perfectly. I have noticed that when you hold in the tape detector switch with the door open it rewinds fine. So does this mean it needs a new belt. Thanks.
Also, it plays in both directions.
Yep it the belt.
Okay. Thanks for the help.
