I was wondering if anybody could tell me what the going rate is for a Sony PS-F9.
It plays perfectly both horizontal and vertical and it looks like new.
Comes with the original box and protection foam and instruction manual as well.

It's worth noting that we cannot give any info on how much something is worth. Not wanting to sound like a scratched record here but your PS-F9 is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it & one man's treasure is another man's trash.
it would be great if Walkman's could be used as currency (I for one would be a very rich man) but sadly this isn't the case.
So, can I politely request that you don't ask for any more valuations?

Sure no problem.
I'm on other collectors forums as well and there the people are fine with helping eachother out and giving valuations but if that's not done here than fine.
I know that prices change from day to day but I was looking for an average "fair" price of this specific item.
I'll just put it up "for sale & auction" section and see if and what people will offer.

Well I do agree with Agentorange, the prices fluctuate much too rapidly to allow for any definite appraisal...It's all so easy on the Antique Roadshow and if it was not it would not be on TV, rather; that only happens on TV! You could auction it, but I have seen these sell high and low, it depends; one auction could just so attract two Sony collectors at the same time, or two (loaded) people enamored by your auction photos, or only one person catches it with no competition, auctions are a risk or just perfectly representational, open to interpretation....but I digress...
Lets not forget condition, does it work properly and fully? Have you tested it? A tested unit is preferred so the buyer knows what to expect. And testing the F9 is a good idea as if the needle and worse cartridge do not work then the unit is considerably less desirable, the F9 used a unique specially designed Cartridge for the linear-tracking which is not longer made and is impossible to replace!!
And what ever you do, PLEASE DO NOT say it works fully or properly if it does not! Many of us Sony/Walkman collectors are burned often everyday and it is so terrible how many people misrepresent or rather Grossly-misrepresent their walkman/item/auction/sale, and us passionate misfits are taken advantage of, in a very sick way....
I suggest you try to sell it here in the "Sale" section (with pics) and see what the best offer is or if there is any demand, this will give you a good idea of what to do next, and if you manage not to sell it here then you could consider an auction!
Just to let you (and others) know exactly what a Sony PS-F9 is:
Sony made two models of this type of portable/compact Record player being the, PS-F5 and PS-F9. They have often been referred to as the Flamingos. Both models are mainly designed for portability and travel, but they can also be installed on a wall for home use. The two models look the exact same (note: there were some alternative body colours) and they share capabilities such as playing 45RPM, 33RPM, singles and LP records and they have a linear traveling arm. The only difference between the PS-F5 and F9 is that the PS-F9 is the later model with Quartz-Lock.
Hope this helps. And hopefully even I one day can own one of these, they just never seem to surface at a good time for me.

Not so much a case of us being unhelpful, more a case of us just not knowing. There just isn't that many of each unit around for us to give a definitive value. On top of that, condition of units vary greatly oh, & not to mention that there just isn't that many collectors around.
My personal suggestion is that if you want to sell you either:
1. Think how much you would sell it for regardless of what you 'believe' it to be worth & list it here in the for sale section.
2. List it on eBay & sit back and wait, collectors (both of them) will find it.

Yes I tested it and it plays both 33 + 45 perfectly. I know how important condition is to collectors.
Only thing I still have to do is connect it to my amplifier at home but I have no doubt that that'll work as well. It almost looks brand new.
I'll probably list it with some proper pictures in a few days.

A minor detail, but the PS-F9 also differs from the PS-F5 because it has a line-out jack (in addition to a headphone jack) and a motorized disc hold. On the PS-F5 you have to manually rotate the disc hold knob 1/4 turn to secure the record before playing.

Failed to sell on here so I put it on Ebay and I sold it straight away
