$ 1,500 USD WALKMAN ?????? ???? Here we go again

johnedward - 2010-06-18 05:11

Nothing like asking for the moon and the stars too. This guy is going to have this WM-10 for some time to come at this or anywhere near this price. Especially that he is asking 4-5 times the value and that on a good day.
But hey he did throw in free shipping now that is a bargain Laugh Out Loud

SONY WM-10 NIB

milosancho - 2010-06-18 07:56

I would so love to have that. My favorite model and the box looks to be in great shape. But this guy is just nuts to price it this high. Perhaps he meant starting bid $150.00 this is more like it.

doober314 - 2010-06-18 14:32

Watching it, just to see how it ends. But it'll probably end the same way it started, with no bids. $1,500 is ridiculous.

That's for sure. If someone wins that... well, if you bid at all you've won...but anyway, if someone wins that it better come with insurance, extra insurance, tracking number, delivery confirmation and be shipped in a huge box with lots of Bubble wrap.

Maybe it comes with a mail in rebate.

He didn't even put the Walkman model number in the heading which makes it harder to find. Did anyone look at his Feedback as a seller... 0. He's never sold. Even if I was willing to buy it for $1500, I'd be a little afraid of him messing something up, being new to selling on ebay. I've never sold on ebay either but I wouldn't put my most valuable Walkman for a starter.

But enough of my rant.

nice walkman but the price make me nightmare !!!

i think nobody will sell more than 250-300€ for this walkman !!!

david - 2010-06-20 08:25

I just emailed the guy. He seems pretty cool. As it turns out, he paid a little over $1500 a few years ago so he's just trying to get his money back. I can respect that. I don't know why he would've paid that much for it to begin with but if I had, I'd want my money back too or I'd just hang on to it.

Good(ish) news everyone! The item has been re-listed at a massive reduced starting price of... er... um...

$1,000.00 Big Grin

Re-listed bargain?

Get your bids in now to save yourself the $500.00. Roll Eyes

And come with GPS tracking and some silver bars or gold coins to go with the unit, then maybe I will bid on it.

You got to be kidding me! Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out LoudI wouldnt buy from an emblezzler!Heck no!

toocool4 - 2010-07-12 15:07

I saw this and I had to laugh.

Well –David- if he paid $1500 for it, some one saw him coming as we would say in England. Also like we say here in England there is one born every minute, all I can say to him is good luck getting his money back. Fat chance.

Maybe this guy had a few beers on board when he paid 1500 for this unit. It happens all the time. It is not a good idea going on ebay after a good night out.

toocool4 - 2010-07-28 13:17

From $1500 down to $400 and 1 bidder at $400 so far.

reli - 2010-07-28 17:33

What is so great about that particular Sony? I'd much rather have a WM-504.

johnedward - 2010-08-02 17:35

SOLD - 3 bidders - for $507. Personally think the WM-10/20/30 series is unique nice player but TOO FRAGILE most of mine have problems. A LOT OF MONEY even for boxed.

i have about 5 and paid about 10-35 each. with the exception of one with a broken battery box the rest just needed a belt. they are one of the easier players to to the belt replacement. the key is,,,having the correct belt. doc. p's instructions make it easy even the first time. bascially, just 6 screws and the volume control. they are about 25 years old and all sound just fine. i missed out on that black one last week dog-gonnat.

renzgi - 2010-08-03 10:41

That here is a real 1500$ Walkman.

toocool4 - 2010-08-04 01:56

If I were going to pay that much for it, I would want it to be in perfect condition I.e. no scratches etc. Wink

Have a look at this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...geName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

gregorybotha - 2010-08-06 12:11

Ok, so I'm the crazy guy who paid $507 for the WM-10 and yes it was a moment of madness and no I don't have too much money :-). I thought a fair price would have been $350 but that's how auctions go.

The way I see it is that to get a mint WM-10 is virtually impossible as they didn't have a case to keep them protected like some of the other Walkmans like a WM-DC2 and so on.

This Walkman has never been used, it is a 10 out of 10 so I'm rather pleased. Even the belt needs to be replaced (I have a new original replacement belt) which is a good sign that no one has fiddled with it. The capstan and head show no signs of use.

I'll post some pictures later, PM me if you would like a copy of the manual.

toocool4 - 2010-08-06 14:12

Well at least you did not pay $1500 for it, which would be madness and in the more money than sense territory.

gregorybotha - 2010-08-07 08:51

Here are the pictures as promised.
