Who Wants to Help Me Pick Out a Sony Walkman?

Originally I had my heart set on a sony wm-101, but thanks to mrp32Dave's reply, I now realize that a 101 in mint condition ain't easy to come by! Does anyone have a better suggestion for a sony cassette-size walkman? I'm planning to go walking with it, so I want something that's lightweight but not too fragile, with a good belt clip. I have a sports wm-f45 but man that thing is so huge that it basically pants me when I'm walking! (Hence why I'm more attracted to a smaller walkman). Plus these brushed metal walkmans are sooo beautiful! I mean if I could go to bed with a walkman... it would certainly be one like a wm-10/10ii/30! (Whoa... sorry for the lack of self-control there!) If anyone has a suggestion, I would really appreciate the input! Thanks!

If you are going walking with it, I would say get something that is direct drive not belt drive. With direct drive you have more chance of getting something with a stable sound. Those ultra lightweight / ultra thin are not that stable on the move.
If you are happy with plenty wow and flutter then get the lightweight / thin one.

If you want something lightweight, stable sound and cheap / easy to find then get yourself something like a WM-DD33.

I use WM-D6C, WM-DC2, WM-DD9 and WM-DD33 all are heavy except the WM-DD33 which is very light. They are all stable without noticeable wow and flutter.

The thin cassette size ones look good but not practical for brisk walking like I do anyway.

Sounds pretty cool, but I'm looking for an 80s model! My love for the 80s is what has spurred my recent love for vintage walkmans! Your suggestion sounds great toocool4, but I gotta be true to my favorite decade! Wink

There are many DD versions from the 80’s but they are heavier, so not what you are looking for.
