Hello all, I have been working on a secret project for awhile now, which upon finnishing I was going to reveal here! Essentially I had it functioning for the majority of the build and completely working during testing phases, but sadly moments after finishing the project(fully assembled) a major function decided to fail, to much of my displeasure.
Now for some details:
The project was using a SONY WM-501 main board, which was from a mechanically non-functioning WM-504....which was one of the reasons it was chosen for the project.
The exact portion of the project that failed was the pre-amp, every other function works... So righ now there is no sound...Errr.
Any wild thoughts to the cause of the pre-amp failure?
Now I'm desperately asking for ANY HELP...to finnish (fix) and reveal this masterpiece project! Does anyone know if it is possible for me to fix the Pre-amp on the board, any options? IF NOT: I need to find a working SONY WM-501 main board,... it has to be the WM-501...because the project has been completely retro-fitted to use and function with the WM-501 main board.
Now I understand the WM-501 board is not an easy one to find, and was only used in a few models, can anyone confirm which ones, this could help? I know it was used in the WM-503, WM-504 & of course the WM-501.
Any help would be greatly appriciated, I'm desperate to finnish and showcase this project.
Hi, although I cannot help, just a note of support! Good luck and stick with it. Actually, I always wondered what it would be like to design and make my own walkman made to a very high spec with super amazing op-amps etc that really make the sound shine. And of course with custom case work hewn from solid aluminium...nice.

I want to say something, even if many do not want to believe, to get a walkman with the features you listed and more is only one way, I did take a wm-dd9 and edit it.
I also have a nice dd9
