Greetings all. Just bagged myself a mint Sony WM-EX1HG in its wooden box. Paid 126 euro, which i think was a great price. Waited for the last few seconds to put my bit in. No more early bidding for me. Saved a few euro by doing this.
Will post pics when i receive the unit. Been after one of these for months now. Hard to find a nice boxed one.
Have one also in the box!

That is the only way to bid if you really want something badly. This is the way i bid
I only ever bid early with my maximum price, if I don’t care if I get it or not.
Yes good price for one with wood box. The box is very nice item and rarely with the walkman anymore. Look forward to seeing the pictures and how you like the sound. Personally the EX1 plays piano pieces better than most all other players.. so very warm/smooth.
As for bidding you never see my bid till last 4 seconds either I win or lose. Early bidding serves no purpose but to put on notice others your bidding and they can see your bid history which gives good idea of how strong a bidder you may be, further making your early bid just giving info to arm bidder who wins how much needs to bid. Anyway bottom line is 95% of ended auctions if you check bidding list the winner never made a prior bid and bids in last 10 seconds. Person that wins almost never is part the early bidding so you just never know. Know what you willing to pay and what real values are and if you dont win the price was unreasonable let someone else have it for crazy money.
I just laugh at two bidders bidding 6-12 times back and forth thinking "OH I am not letting that person win over me" and it becomes a ego battle having NOTHING to do with fair market value of Walkman. There is a science to winning on ebay and the smart ones are quiet about it. Most learn over time though. I pass on many auctions that for my value of item it has gone past what I feel worth paying for. Always in end its what your willing to pay for it not what is it worth. Of Note : I can certainly say in past 8 months ever increasing SHILL bidding is being done by sellers bidding with 0 or 1 or 2 feedback buyer names to set high price and push it. In end sometimes they are the high bidder and stuck with own item. Then they contact highest REAL buyer offer it to them saying winner did not pay. That's why if you DON'T bid early the shill bid (unless he sets a high amount as proxy bid) you can win for better low price. Its CRAP and dishonest almost as bad as Mediterrano our dear friend who sells generally broken badly repaired as new and perfect. You need to be a CAREFUL informed buyer anymore. It is never been more true BUYER BEWARE !

Congratulations Derek Mc Caffrey. I've got a SONY WM-EX1HG in the box wood new for 200 euro, few years ago. But it has paid a friend to me and I in return I gave him two big speakers in maple wood of high quality, but without the speakers and the crossovers. He then bought them separately.
I have just received the unit. It is in lovely condition. Unfortunately it seems to be missing its insert, which is a real shame to be honest. Am i correct in thinking it should have a black insert which holds the unit?
So, i kept this unit for all of two days. The missing insert just bugged me. Also, the remote did not function correctly. Sound was distorted through it. Very dissapointed indeed. The seller never mentioned these faults. Oh well, such is life. If anyone has a boxed EX1HG they may be willing to sell, please let me know. I will pay a good price. Cheers.
Can anyone tell me the difference between an EX1HG and an EX2HG. Are they different in any way. I know the EX1HG was an anniversary model, was the EX2HG also an anniversary model. Also, which model is best. Thanks!

I own both models. Only ex1 hg has the wooden box. I prefer the hx 1. The ex-2 is a little smaller and more modern, but the ex 1 is more beautiful.

Do not have thought to fix it? The important thing is that both visually and in good condition. The malfunctions can be repaired.
Yes i could have got a replacement remote, but without the missing insert i didn't want the unit. I will keep my eyes open for another complete unit. I don't think they are very rare, so one might come up for sale soon.
Congrats! I bought one in mint condition but without the wooden box about 3 years ago for $145 Canadian.
Does anyone know where to get a replacement battery for these type of walkmans? Mine doesn't hold a charge very long anymore.
Derek
Was BIN For the Sony EX1HG at €200
here But someone has put bid in, so it'll end as auction.
Thanks plop. I will keep an eye on it!
So i bagged myself this item. Cheers for the lead plop. BIN price was 200 euro. Paid 201 euro. I think this was a fair price. The only thing missing are its headphones. Perfect otherwise according to seller.
So, what headphones does this unit come with, MDR-E741'S? If anyone know's the model number, and have a spare pair please let me know. Cheers!
Shame you didn't keep the headphones from the first box, then you would have had a complete set.
The headphones are not a problem really. I can easily get a pair on taobao. I just need to know the model number.
