Guess that walkman????

walkgirl - 2010-11-30 10:23

Jup, how do you call it then? Confused

mrp32dave - 2010-11-30 10:59

Cris, going in the right direction but it's from 91-92 and I wouldn't really say it was a cheaper brand. Here's another picture.

plop - 2010-11-30 14:10

I suspect it is a Kenwood.

mrp32dave - 2010-11-30 18:22

Yes, It's a Kenwood, anyone know the model number?

johnedward - 2010-11-30 20:47

With out further to do I present CARNAC the MAGNIFICENT Walkman #6.

CARNAC's Mystery Walkman #6

head bash anyone wave

mrp32dave - 2010-11-30 22:44

John, not a clue on your #6.
The Kenwood model was a CD-D3.

It's a Sharp?

johnedward - 2010-12-01 06:56

It is not a sharp. It was a one off item as far as I know.

This is a tough one, is it a Pioneer?
I don't really have clue.
Anyway try this one.

johnedward - 2010-12-01 12:30

CARNAC the MAGNIFICENT

DAVE that is the AKAI PM-R1

Note several companies used this chassis such as Kenwood, Teac Also the PM-R2 still used this mechanics.

johnedward - 2010-12-01 12:39

Dave it is not a PIONEER. Actually it is NONE of the big mfg. names....
clue the model number starts with WL-

mrp32dave - 2010-12-01 12:45

Yeah, thought that might be a bit easy, yes I have at least 6 different brands using the same mechanics.

Try this one.

coolcol - 2010-12-01 13:12

Sony WM-106 i think with winding headphones

ao - 2010-12-01 13:20

Yeah, i got some of these, WM-51 or something like that.

mrp32dave - 2010-12-01 13:27

Colin your correct WM-106 with winding headphones, also known as something like WM-52, I have several of both versions in grey and white, headphones seem to fall apart only have one player with a good set.

mrp32dave - 2010-12-01 13:41

A couple more one easy and one maybe not

coolcol - 2010-12-01 13:46

How about this?

I think this one is a Sharp Being, not sure about the model number.

ao - 2010-12-02 23:02

Oooh, that's interestin coolcol, my guess is that it's quite late but still has nice retro lines. Couldn't guess the model though.

CARNAC the MAGNIFICENT

Dave your first one is a Sanyo JJ-R series recording player without a radio. I am unable to give you the exact model but it is NOT a JJ-R6.

Dave your second one I can not even venture a guess from only the one photo... another side would be helpful. All can say is it is the second generation smaller player from 82-84 my guess so far.

johnedward - 2010-12-03 16:24

AO guessed a Sharp and Dave a Pioneer, both are incorrect. Since this is actually a promotional Walkman that is based on some mfg. chassis ( I have no clue , it is a nice heavy all metal player) this is probably not a fair one to guess at. I am going to give additional pictures and identify this stinker for you all. Carnac's Walkman #6 no one guessed after 3 days of posting.

Yes a very good guess as it is a sharp Being JC M50 model. Chunky all round metal casing with decent sound. Never thought i say this but i like this unit.

I think I have a very similar model if not the same exact one. I really like it myself. It is nicely built and it sounds good.

Also mentioned question if speaker on player .... NO player has no external speaker.

hm

Unit as can be seen is full Stereo but recording is offered only mono from small condenser mic on front of player. NO jack input for plug in mic. A very unusual player to offer 2 speeds for recording but only internal mic recording capability.

I wish, Cris.
I've got info about it & want one, but have yet to snag one for myself. Keep this topic going guys, it's great. Several out there still not guessed. I'm hopeless & know little about walkmen.
Cris: how about digging out that red walkman I gave you - might stump 'em a bit...

zx280 - 2011-01-17 21:11

This arrived yesterday. Looks like a Hitachi. Has an AM FM tuner pack. Quality construction. Never heard of this brand before. Any ideas?
