Hello,
I've just add this one to my collection.
It's a T50 with 3 band EQ, radio selection, etc..
And it's brand new !!! Absolutly clean ! It never has been ever used !
I received it with original box, notice, warranties, protection plastics, etc..
It works perfect ! Exept the belt (I will change it soon)
Sounds great.. anyway far from my HS-G09... more like my HS-G37 or my big Sony (WM-35, WM-41..)
I got no informations about the T50.. Do you know when the T50 has been released ??
Thx
Could not find any direct confirmation on this model of mfg. year. Best guess is 86-87 an era being 85 to 88 that mfg. strove to reduce the cost of the Walkman and add features most often at the cost of sound quality. A gimmick period.
The HS-T50 for what it was had a pretty good sound to it. This period was dominated with all plastic construction and quality cutting with mostly all plastic mechanical components.
You might be suprised to know that this model was released in 90-91. I have an aiwa brochure from this period and that model is in it. There was also an identical model with recording function.

I stand corrected.
hi. i picked one of those up about 6 months ago. as is usually, the sound was as good as most aiwas for a short time till the belt stretched out and that was the end of the original pleasant aiwa sound. i opened it up hoping to find the belt easily accessible. no way. i kept my cool and put it back together. it was way past my skills so it is shelf decoration. it still plays but poorly. john,,i think your 3-4 year guess was not bad as the cassttes were entering the dark ages if you know what i mean. if you can do the belt put a quick and easy recipe on a web pages and i think it would be much appreciated...
Thx !
I opened it and it seems to be more "modern" than the 86/88 era PCB (ex HS-G37)
It looks more like a SOny xxxx (those "bass boost" black plastic boxes !)
so it doesn't surprise me if this Aiwa was released in the early 90's

I thought I would find the same kind of layout you can find in other similar big box (HS-g35/37)
But I was surprised too ! it is simple to remove the upper PCB
but you'll need to desolder the motor wiring (on the other side, the radio wiring is more tricky)
Hope someone could help me out here. My T50 had some problems so I opened and found out that the battery wiring was broken and so I'm thinking of soldering back. Is it a good idea to do so?
Also when I open it, this black plastic piece fell off. Does anyone know exactly where it is originally situated?
Any help will be deeply appreciated.
Anyone have a service manual for this?
I hate these AIWA walkmans... always something falling out from nowhere!

Sounds like my old Austin Metro!
