Anyone know if these really are world tuners in the actual sense? I've seen a couple models that claim this, but on inspection range from 76.0 to 90.0 MHz. Or is there some way to unlock the full frequency range?
Yes i know what you mean as it took me ages to find out how to set them.
Some models are a lot easier to do than others.

It depends on what models you have as i know of the FX909, GX707, GX711, FX808 to name a few.
The one i had the most difficult was the FX811 as wrote it down but now can't find the paper. lol

Ah, that is reassuring to know, and also annoying at the same time that Sony were so strict with imposing the Japanese frequency range, especially on models sold in Japan with the intention of export.
I know that for Aiwa models they are are already preset to 76-108MHz, so there is no issues there.
Hey Colin,
I am interested in this information as well. Is there a general guideline for this or are they all different? Any chance you can post some basic instructions on the forum as to what to do? It may helpful to other members as well.
Thanks.
