Recently i was lucky enough to find one of these in amongst a pile of electrical rubbish at a salvage yard. I knew straight away what it was and of course took it home ! After comparing pics of others i noticed that above the view window on the door mine says STEREO where all the others i have seen it says SONY ? Just curious to know why there is a difference. Release date perhaps or something like that ??

In the beginning, Sony had different names for the TPS-L2; soundabout, freestyle, stowaway and walkman.
Only later models named 'Walkman' on the cassettedoor when the decision was made which name was best.

yours is an earlier unit.
