Hi,
I am new to this forum, so an introduction is in order. The other day we were discussing electronics miniaturization and I remembered once seeing a Discman smaller than a CD. I quickly discovered this was the Sony D88. I then got hooked to the subject and started browsing, found a lot of cool-old-walkmans, got here, etc.
I still remember like it was yesterday standing in the lobby of a friend's house on a sunny afternoon back in '84, hearing the stereo sound over headphones for a first time - Nik Kershaw's Dancing girls on a red plastic walkman. Man that was something!
The only Walkman I ever owned is a WM-F2085. Bought it in Wales in '90 for GBP 80. The one I wanted to have was WM-F702, but it cost about GBP 200 (!), so I rather bought the 2085 and a Sony CD player instead...
Anyway, reading this forum, walkmancentral, pocketcalculatorshow,... I might get hooked to the small wonders of miniaturised mechanics & electronics of the past...
At this moment, I am most fascinated by smaller-than-cassete units like WM-10/WM-F10, Toshiba KT-AS10,...
