Seems kind of ironic to me...almost an admission (even if subliminal) that things were better "back then". At the very least, it's a subtle kind of compliment to Sony Corp.

JC it does seem ironic that they would cram an ipod into a walkman. There is still a lot of love for the 80's but it just seems to be a violation of the iconic walkman.

Well MB, you do have a point...I'm assuming though, that the wm was toast, and that the case at least was saved, and put to use. I think this retrofit makes an interesting statement in a rather unique way, that unites the spirit of both past and present personal audio cultures. The fact that this has been done before (with diffewrent models of both wm case and mp3) leads me to believe that there are at least some folks out there who, although resigned to the reality of the evolution of personal portable audio to it's present form, still yearn for, or at the very least appreciate the iconic walkman of days past.

JC, don't get me wrong I do believe if the walkman was really dead then it's not such a bad thing. Some will say it's a terrible thing to do but as has been stated already it's better this way than the local land fill.

I understand MB, and ...it's kind of like gutting boomboxes to make suitcases or something. But then again, anything other than a local landfill, eh!

I think we really have seen eye to eye on this all along we just expressed it a little differently in words.
