Hi there,
Anyone owns an Aiwa HS J11 and need parts?
I have one and I was trying to fix it, however I could not figure out how the reverse mechanism works and I gave up.
Cheers,
glam
How much are you asking for it Glam?
I took it all apart and you have to put it back together...I'll take some pictures of it and show you what it looks like but I have to find a picture hosting site first.
You can have it if you want but you have to pay me whatever I pay Canada Post
send me the pic to cris.tyler@gmail.com & I'll host it for you.
Hello Glam, you are welcome to upload hs-J11 near its brother
HS-J110 in "the biggest walkman database online ever"
Hi gedcom,
I have registered but how do I upload pictures to the database?

Here's Glam's pics.
I like this Aiwa & would like 2nd dibs if still available.
Glam, remind us again. What were you trying to fix & also, please tell us that broken piece of plastic (top right) isn't related to this projects.
Thanks for posting the pics.
Here's the background story and I'll keep it short:
This is the unit that I found sitting in the corner of my relative's washroom gathering dust. I tried it out - the radio worked but the cassette drive shaft was not moving (expected). However, the motor was running. I thought that I might be able to fix it and I asked her to give it to me.
When I took it apart I found that the drive belt was totally disintegrated and therefore I don't know where the drive belt should go. I put a rubber band on to try it out but the capstan drive shaft was spinning the in the wrong direction. I couldn't figure it out and I gave up fixing it. I took the speakers out (to keep them) and wanted to throw the rest in the garbage.
Then I remember you guys/gals at Stereo2go and I'm sure that there must be someone who is passonate and technical enough to rescue this baby...
The black piece that you see is not plastic but it belongs to the mat behind the speaker grill (to mask the colour of the white body so that it will not show thru the grill - as you can see from the first picture, the bottom left hand corner of the left speaker).
I'll give this Aiwa to anyone who will give some TLC to this baby...
I'm keen to have a go, in fact I have a similar unit HS-po2 which has the same mechanism so i can use it for reference.
Let me know if you've promissed it to someone else otherwise give me a shout & I'll PayPal you some cash or send you some, you choose.
Oh, where are you?
Hi Agentorange, it's yours now.
I'll mail it out to you this week via Canada Post surface parcel. Please send me your address to my email.
I actually have another Aiwa walkman that needs a belt. You can have it if you want...the postage will be higher of course...just let me know.
I'll send more info about the HS J11 to your email later.
As I said before you only have to pay me what Canada Post charges me. You can pay me via PayPal after you have received the unit.
BTW, I'm in Vancouver Canada. You're in London, right?
glam
You're a good guy Glam but I'm more than happy to pay upfront.

I registered too-adding pics of my Aiwa now.
And here she is, back in business.
I love this walkman, very stylish indded & with that unmistakable Aiwa quality.
Thanks to Glam for being honest about the condition of this old chap plus excellent descriptions.
I Used a J02 as a template for a new belt but the biggest issue was returning the tiny spring to the door release catch. A bit of guess work on the antenna wires, some glue on the grills & bob's your uncle.
This one's a keeper.
Thanks Glam
Very nice Agent, It looks great!
yes very nice!
are they rare?
Whoa! It's nice too see you fixed it up!
I know that someone at Stereo2go will be able to fix this baby up and give it a new life!
A+++++ to you Agentorange!
Glam
Yeah, these a re rare, I only know of another owned by an old board member who wouldn't sell to me despite it being in a worse state than this one.
This is the first walkman I've fixed up this year & it's kinda revived some interest in this hoby, I really enjoyed dong this one.
One niggle in that the glue used to afix the left hand foil speaker grill has seeped out of the top, I only realized this when removing it from the jig after setting, GRRRR!
hey,,,don't feel bad. i had a little super glue ooze out of an easy repair. then the really bad mistake was to try super-glue remover on the painted area. paint and superglue remover don't mix....DUMB !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ouch!!
