I have an opportunity to buy a Sansui FX-W31R and was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on these. I've been collecting boomboxes but not walkmans so I really don't know much about them.
I have never seen a Sansui walkman, I would buy it just for rarity!
I do not know which model that is but I have a
sansui walkman that is very nice
The rewind and forward is rather slow but thre
sound is rather good!
There are different brands who did have this
walkman in their collection like philips and jvc
and others

OK I've made arrangements with the seller to buy this little Sansui this weekend. I'll post pics after I get it. Thanks for the jump start everyone, I don't know why I didn't buy it on the first opportunity.
I've read at classicsansui.net that at mid eigthies the company started to fall.
The main cause was the quality of it's hifi products had been lowered a lot (do you remeber the supercompo-line)
At this point, in an effort to make some money Sansui started to sell Grundig walkmans branded Sansui.

That is fantastic!
What a nice walkman!, I have that one with a equaliser, but the printing is almost gone on
my walkman because I did use it really much
Congratulations on your ultra nice walkman!!

Thanks Nicole, I wasn't even looking for a walkman but a guy that I bought a Hitachi mini boombox from offered it to me when I bought the Hitachi. I was kind of blindsided by it but the overall condition made it irresistable. He offered to send all boombox and walkman business my way if and when he comes across any via family, friends, etc., I hope this pays off.

What did you think about yours? I'm curious because I don't know much about walkmans and it sounds like you used yours a lot.
Oh then you were very lucky as the
sasui walkmans are really rare!
I think this walkman does sound really good,
therefore I did use it much
, the sound is
really clear, but the rewind and forward is a bit
strange as it does go very very slow, not much
more fast as regular play!, plus you have to
switch to the reverse side to rewind
It does work on batteries also rather long
There is also a blet clip on the back of the walkman,
and there go 2 regular aa batteries in
It does seem your and my walkman are a bit
different because my walkman does have a
equlizer and a tuner, plus the inside of the
cassette door is with diagonal lines and I see
yours does have little squares
.
I have this walkman also in a jvc version!, and
I know of a
akai version
and a philips version!!, I also did see on ebay
de a version from a unknown brand.

That Akai looks nice.
Do they really sell for $100 or is that seller way out of line?
Well, I did get overbid on a red sansiu walkman
like yours and my most high bid was $37,
49 pound is a bit high in my opinion but it does
come with te pouch and the walkman does look
rather good.
Seller Byett doesn't come cheap.
Love that Sansui MB84! It looks amazing, I hope you got a great deal on it, enjoy! AO, Buyett, is expensive!
