As you state, it is a JX2000. The difference is the D is used to denote the addition of TV band as well. If it is a later JX2000, then it probably doesn't have the bi-azimuth adjustment. Similar to the HS-EX50.

You are correct plop, this one has a tv tuner. But unlike the EX-50, this model was made for the chinese market. Unlike the standard model and EX-50, this one has 80th on the front instead of 10th. Not many of these were produced.

My original post was incorrect, it is actually a JX-2000TW.

Interesting variation on the JX2000. Mine is nowhere near as good condition as yours. Aiwa seems to really like making golden limited edition models (There's a golden Malaysian anniversary RX-610 hovering in the local ebay).
Is it in full working order?
I wonder how rare JX2000s are VS the standard 505.

The JX2000TW actually celebrates the Republic of China's 80th anniversary in 1991, not to be confused with the Peoples Republic of China or just simply China (Mainland China) which after a civil war came into official being in 1949. Hence the TW for Taiwan. Also from the picture of the box there is the flag for Taiwan.
I could be wrong, but I'm not actually sure that there were any AIWA walkmans back in 1991 being manufactured in China at least not any of the high end ones, so it is most likely made in Japan too. The only other place that made walkmans at that time was Singapore.

Hey Minty,
Just spied your auction on eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...mp;item=200627078942
It's a real shame the unit is in such bad condition. Good luck with the auction.

Bad condition? My JX2000 is even more scratched up! (granted it was $5) Seems the previous owners did not care to leave it in a pouch (the JX707's paint is similarly fragile)

@bub
Yeah I know, but out of all the gold JX50 series the JX2000TW is probably the rarest of them all. Alas, it is missing so many parts from what was originally supplied. For me this is what really makes the gold models so special, ie to have the original box and the bits too that AIWA bundled with these models. To see what is remaining, it loses a lot of it's value and just becomes a regular gold coloured walkman. 5SGD is a good price for your JX2000. I would happily pay that even for a black JX505 in a similar condition.
For example I saw a regular mint JX2000 end last week on eBay UK for 490GBP. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...mp;item=260802228032 If the JX2000TW was mint and fully complete like in the picture in the above post it would have easily beaten the price of last week's auction.

man that went cheap...just forgot about it....
plop - 2011-07-14 01:07
@RR
The price it ended was low but was a reasonable one, given the lack of accessories and the overall condition of the unit. Even the battery box had a part broken off.
