Aiwa repair manuals

minty - 2011-09-19 11:12

Greetings all.

I now have two aiwa repair manuals. One for a JX-3000/707. And also one for a JX-303. If anyone requires either manual, please let me know and i can send it in pdf form via email.

Hello! I am interesting manual for Aiwa Jx707, need to repair my device. Please send on my mail exchanger@inbox.ru,

Thank you a lot before!

minty - 2012-01-28 15:47

That's been sent. It is a service manual for a JX-3000, which is identical to the JX-707. Just different colour. Good luck with your repair!

Experience counts for a lot when repairing this model.

I know that it is not easy. But no other chance... I bought in internet market as "working FFWD, with some problems with reverse, probably belt replacement required" but in fact cassette part does not work at all. No reaction at all when pressing the cassette buttons. But tuner works perfect.

minty - 2012-01-30 10:41

Needs more than a belt. Capacitors will need replacement. Every single JX-707 I have ever purchased has had this problem.

I've repaired/restored several of these and if the belt has failed then you should still get the voice prompt before the unit gives up trying to select the operation.

If the ribbon cable has failed then you get different symptoms such as pressing say Play yields FFWD or even nothing at all. The ribbon cable is under a lot of stress on this model especially since AIWA folded the ribbon cable over itself and eventually after opening and closing the cassette door; a crack forms at this crease point which later becomes a tear across the ribbon cable. Once the ribbon has a tear it is very hard to stop the tear. Thin wires can be used to bridge the crack, but eventually the tear will go across the entire width of the ribbon cable and the unit is only good for as a paperweight.

Capacitors do fail on this model, and if you are replacing the belt, it is best to change them them too as access to this part of the model can be a real pain to get into. Watch out for the playback solenoid on this unit too. The plastic housing of the solenoid turns to butter if too much heat is applied to the pins. If that happens you can end up freeing the pins and snapping off the very thin winding wire.

Thank you a lot for solutions!

I did not start repairing now because try to send device back to seller.

Yes, i think that the problem in cable because no voice when I press any button for cassette. When battery unit attached to Aiwa the voice tells "forward direction" and something "click" in the device then nothing more...

I planned to repair belt without disassembling PCB. I had experience with three old players and belt worked one year after repairing (do not know more time, because devices were sold). Special liquid for rubber then rosin in spint gave exelelent results!

In the current case i am learning electronic diagramm now. Then will check capacitors without resoldering (I have ESR meter).

Small question^

when you use Aiwa with external battery unit and without any accumulator. What you see on the display about battery? In my case I see battery empty in standby (cassette) mode and FM radio mode. And battery full indicator when AM radio and TV band works. Probably problem in power circuits? Aiwa thinks that battery is empty and does not turn on solenoids when I pressing PLAY button?

P.S. When I attaching power adaptor display continue to show empty battery in standby mode.

Also, when I open cassette dore display turned off. Do you have the same? Backup battery is old of cause, but why display turned off with opened door?

You are sure, it is cable, I think so . This weekend I will check it. In a worth case device will be prepared ^) let me know if you need any parts from aiwa jx707. It will be the last way for my device

I am trying to give my small input in database of knowledge. Accu battery could be changed by Sanyo Ni-Mh 800Mah gum-cell and DC-DC converter from MAX. I found datashirt for this MAX converter, it works from 1,1V and convert to 2,7V. Required just two capacitors 100MF , 1 drossel 22mHN (sorry, i do not how to translate it in English) and 4 resistors. Dimencions - 6,5 x 4,5 mm. 2,7 V I think is not dangerous for jx707.

In my case it works from 3V power adapter and sound is excelent. Means that capacitors are good - probaly somebody need my PCB? BBE and DSL works perfect, audible, listened in armauture headphones . If you interested I give a datasheet for MAX dcDC converter.

It would help explain your idea, if you could draw a circuit diagram and post it up here on the forum. There are some of us on here that are interested in devising a voltage regulated replacement for the 2V lead acid battery.

Newer AIWA walkmans generally use 2V, so 3V power adapter is quite high for JX707. Some earlier models do use 3V. Check the input socket it is usually labelled with the required amount.

Hi,

can you send me the 2 manuals.

I am collecting old walkmans mainly Aiwa.

In my collection I have 6 Aiwa J-505 all with the same problem: they SQUEAL when I press play.

Does anyone know the solution?

I was told that it is most likely the Dolby chip that needs to be replaced.

Any comments on how to purchase and replace the chips?

Thanks for any feedback.

Greetings all.

I now have two aiwa repair manuals. One for a JX-3000/707. And also one for a JX-303. If anyone requires either manual, please let me know and i can send it in pdf form via email.

It is unlikely the squealing is the Dolby chip itself, but rather the capacitors on the unit that need replacing. Good luck repairing the J505, it is a real pig to dismantle. It also has one of the highest count of capacitors within it. Pretty much all of them will need replacing.

So save yourself the money and frustration of buying new Dolby IC chips and replace the capacitors first. For an inventory of which capacitors you need for the J505 look in my AIWA capacitor replacement guide.

Hi,

my email adress is: keller@vitakustik.de

I have some manuals myself: Aiwa HS J09 (J600), HS J505, HS J101 (J 700), HS J202 (J800), HS J 45 (J320).

Let me know if you need a  a PDF copy to return the favour.

Thanks
