i dont know what it is but since i got my sanyo sportsters, i'm just getting obsessed with vinage walkman speakers,have any of you guys got any pics of some nice vintage ones,i have seen a few sets of sony srs speakers,they are nice,i just want to see pics of some nice sets..

To be honest none were great, the worst were the ones which used the walkman's own amp to power them, let's face it, that isn't going to fill much space.  Some of the active ones were better, I'm thinking of the Sony AMP-007 units as per below...

Board member JohnEdward had some nice non-active sets but I'm not sure how good they sounded.

i like those cris,i know exactly what you mean about some of them having weak amps,my sanyos have poor amp power,but they have a passive mode where you can plug them straight to a stereo,and mine sound great since i changed the 3" woofers for some beefy ones with huge magnets on the back..

These look good though I think they are a lot later than we like.  The black set (2nd from bottom) seem a lot earlier though, I seem to remember those from around 88.

You're right Minty, Aiwa did make some nice portable speakers.  This prompted me to have a rummage and I found these not quite so nice Aiwa SC-01s plus a nice pair of boxed SC-A7s, both have the option of plumbing directly from the walkman or in via their own tiny bi-amps 0.9w in the case of the A7s and 1.8w for the bigger ones.  They both sound dreadful but fun though.

Love the Sony APM-007's, have a full size pair of APM-22'S. I will be looking out for some walkman speaker's, who know's i might spot a pair at a boot sale.
