Jordache "walkman"

added this to my collection, a Jordache portable. i vaguely remember this being sold in stores that carried Jordache jeans when i was a kid. it had to be pricey as Jordache jeans were all the rage here in Miami during the time the walkman was the portable of choice.
i dont know who made this machine but will be researching it. of unique interest is it uses (3) AA batts. this is the first portable in see that uses 3. it has a balance control and a volume control. it also has a flip up antenna and a built in speaker.
any ideas who made it?

did some research on FCC website and it seems to have been made by Skitronic. never heard of them.

skitronic was a brand for lots of big disc0lite boomboxes with a dozen AKAs -
i have had a panasonic with the exact same features and layout as your jordache-
and a sony that was similar

Yeah, some distinct Panasonic similarities going on here

I spent more time staring at the girls Jordache jeans than I did listening to my walkman....I couldn't afford all the batteries

its deffinitely a skitronic. the way i found it out is go to the FCC.gov website and do a search for registered products. back in the day, manufacturers had to get all radio products registered. nowdays they dont. they can claim it meets specs and that is all.
the FCC keeps a database of all those old registrations. the first 3 digits in a product's registration number are cross referenced to the manufacturer, in this case skitronic.
i found out on wiki that skitronic is the company that made the disco light boombox for different brand names.

G'day members, yes JohnEdward returns to S2G after being MIA for some time. I have a pristine working condition Jordache player which the following link details this player.

I did a post 3 years ago about clone of this model potentially the Panasonic RX-1950 at the following link.

Following are photos of the Windsor CS-880 which is identical to the Jordache except has speaker on the back. Also interesting to note that the Panasonic does not have a rear speaker so the Jordache seems to have this unique distinction making it the rarest of the clones.

Dug out my JORDACHE JEANS from late 70's. Thought I would have a little fun creating the " ERA " correct photo with 1979 Corvette, 78-79 Jordache Jeans and the 81/82 Jordache Gold Walkman. Well if I had ONLY HAD the CORVETTE and the WALKMAN in 81/82 to go with the Jeans........Sigh ... better late than never.
