price for a Walkman TPS-L2

goody - 2012-10-03 15:10

what would be a good price to pay for the above sony player it has no box..or accessories and it does not power on..

retrodos - 2012-10-03 16:37

"0" Seems like a good round number.

goody - 2012-10-03 16:53

LOL...i will stay away from it then..

Prices vary greatly and most TPS-L2s are very tired inside.  If it's cosmetically good then you should buy it.  These units are quite solid and can be easy to work on.   So, if clean then don't pay more than £50 but if the plastic control panel is worn then I'd steer clear as this will never look nice again.

For a very good condition but non-working I expect about 60-80$ more or less. Does it have the original blue case?

Hi Hugo,

Do you think this is ridiculous, the seller is listing now in ebay.

it does not come with the original blue case it has very slight scratches on the silver bit and it will not power on...where would i be able to repair it..

These normally go for around $60 or so. But if it doesn't power on, no red light won't bother, as it more then just a belt, as someone could have more likely had their way with it, or it has other serious issues. Leave it for a tech to buy, at least then they can use it for parts, worst case.

Hi Hugo,

Absolutely! Why do you ask? Selling that unit for that price is totally crazy. Even considering that it's new... but it has not the case or the box.

I bought mine (new, boxed) for about 500$, so it's more than three times the price for only the player.

BTW: Funny that the seller copied the description from Walkman central without even reading it. He copied also the last line: "Text copyright © Walkman Central. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited." He is dogdy...

PS: For 1697$ he can take better photos. I think he should pay 60$ for a short photo session indeed...

blindfold copy-and-paste from the net has become more popular than soccer. here's my rule of thumb: the more these people ignore their whereabouts, the less reliable they are.

I have been keeping close vigilant over the Tps L2 for quite a while but everytime there's a listing out there I wouldnt even be a close contender. The bidding price is way too high, the figure that you mention around $60 - 80 was never true in ebay. Until recently I came across one listing from the US the bidding price stayed at around $50 for many days until the final 60 secs I placed my max bid for 80 but then overbid, place again for 100 overtake again then the last 5 sec left I placed my last chance of max bid to $120. Finally I won the bidding at $107. Maybe you guys can commend something whether this is a reasonable price for a non working TPS with headphone, however I have not receive the unit it is still under delivery from US.
