The DD series was one of Son'y's best but did suffer an issue with cracking center wheel. Fortunately there's plenty of posts and several memebers who perform those repais on this site, if that is the case here...

Is this a " no-belt" machine?

It has a belt. I just replaced mine last week.

maybe you can use standart belts .. i bought a set of 85 pieces for 15 $ ....

i found out today : NO, no use of standart belt .. so i have to order a wm-2 belt @ ebay -.- ....

anyway .. i ordered a wm-2 belt from this guy ....


but i`ve got another problem. there`s a grundig i have, and that device doesn`t want a belt, too ... i bought a bag of belts some weeks ago. but it seems, it`s rubbish...as a noob in changing belts i discover now, how many differences a cassette player can have in sound with all the "wrong" belts -.- ... it`s no sony, so it might to be very difficult to get a belt for a 30 yrs. old cassette player.. THATS something for a belt guru ..

seems, there must be a single belt out there for every device....

update: the turntalbeneeds link lists 2 parts. its wrong. one of them leads to wm-22 ...

today i found another source for that belt in germany. hope, this one fits ...

i ordered already at revox. that guy offered me to take back the wrong belt and compare his belts with my old original wm-2, if i sent it to him. no, this time it`s another shop from germany. i`ll report, if it works ...

i tried his belt for wm-2 ... its a orbicular one... the original is square... anyway, it doesn`t work .... think, i have to dismantle the whole device ...
