I have two of these both red and black. retrodos 3 years ago completely took mine apart the belt turned totally to goo the worst to clean and needed some caps. Maurice said it was one of the much more difficult players to work on but also one of best mechanisms he had Ever seen. Mine is still working excellent and can tell you without a doubt this player has the most powerful amplifier of ANY Walkman I know including some of the oldest early models with 4 batteries that had 60 mw and higher per channel. At 5 on 10 volume scale porta pros are so loud I can barely keep on my head and I love loud. Quite certain this player could melt most headphones and it only runs on 2 AA. I had the orig. service manual for this model but Maurice never returned to me yet.....Maurice HINT....along with several other orig. svc. manuals still in his possession.
It also has to be the heaviest Walkman made... think it would survive a atomic blast. This player defines TANK !! Draw back is at gym damn thing pulls your shorts off .... need a tight belt to wear this one or put in pocket.
Congrats on adding a great boxed player to your excellent quality collection. topic on this model and the non recording one PK-5AW in yellow and black.
