I've wandered over here from the boombox side again, sorry

Picked this up at a car boot sale cheaply having found it in the bottom of a box of junk.  Its pretty minty as it still had its protective case.

Radio works perfectly, tape motor runs but needs new belts (never done this on a walkman!) and I like the quirkiness of a radio section that fits in the tape deck.

So as I know diddly squat about walkmen (I only own one other!) is this cheap junk or a decent one? I'm not selling it, I'm just interested   Don't even mind if its cheap junk lol

That pretty much gives me a perfect run down of it, thanks!...a good quality walkman of moderate value...sounds good to me!  I shall see if I can rebelt it, tho its a bit smaller than the boxes I usually work on, might find it a challenge lol

I like it. Looks very much like the original old school Walkman. I would definitely spend some time fixing it!..

It's a great solid early unit, it's one of the few with a separate steel chasis.  The problem with this one is that there are so many around for it to be classed as rare.  Next to the TPS-L2 this was about the most popular walkman in 1980.

Not bad for the little money I paid for it then ...and I agree, the tuner pack is pretty cool...thats what drew me to it really as its a bit unusual.

Not sure I can be converted from a boombox-aholic but in my youth I probably went through way more walkmen than boxes...was struck by the awesomeness of being able to carry your music with you in a (relatively) tiny form for the first time so bought many different ones in the 80's.  Can't remember what I had other than I do remember diverting from the usual Sonys etc for a Saisho once as it had many more bells and whistles for my pocket money but it was a piece of junk that went back to Dixons in the end

I like that its about 1980 as pretty much every box I love is around 1980 to 1982 and bearing in mind I've only got two walkmen (is it walkmen or walkmans?...neither sounds right!) I'd much rather have quality over rarity...both would've been better tho lol

What about rebelting?...is it achievable for a walkman novice who's more used to things in a bigger scale?

Have you listened to anything on it? How's it sound?

The tuner section on these is fantastic. Try it with a decent set of cans and see what I mean. Far higher quality than you'd think

Good buy there, I love these early TOSHIBAS from 1980-1983 and have collected about 10 pcs (KT-R1,-KR-R2, KT-S1,KT-S2,KT-S3. all in mint cond. and they are the easiest to change belts on,I wish the AIWA-CS-J1'S were that easy,also they sound great as well.
