I've got an email address for him somewhere and for what it's worth will give him a polite nudge.

It true I haven't been around in months actually, was working on a big project out of town and didn't get around to repairing them till recently. Haven't worked on walkmans in months, or been on the forums for a while. Now around, just fixed the other two a couple weeks ago, having issues with JL30 reason for delay. Will sent out other two, so you won't have to wait anymore.

I am not going to argue with you. I sent your package, I can't just make up a tracking? The only thing I can do is not sent it. I sent it out. Your international, I have local packages at this time taking 8-10 days, which I have no control over. I pretty sure you will get it soon and expect a apologies and this thread removed once you do, I am done with this conversion. I dealt with you in the passed I had one package before take over a month from when it was sent and yes I did actually sent it out right away then to. Your proof is below. You also failed to mention I bought the HS-JL30 from you ether.
If I plan on stealing your Walkman's for one I would have chosen to steal the way more expensive ones you sent in the pass. Then why would I even bother paying you for your HS-JL30 recently and even bother to respond to you, especially after you still left this thread up, I have nothing to gain, or lose at this point with you with this thread still up? If I wanted to scam you, I would have beg you to remove the thread and not once did I ask you to? I figure I will wait till you receive your Walkman's first. Plus one of your Walkman was just a rework which means you receive it and still wasn't working correctly, due to bad ribbon cable, which I had to pull a new ribbon cable out of another JX303, that you also fail to mention.
retrodos - 2013-12-22 05:23
For those that are curious, I did give him tracking the day I sent them out, so it wasn't like I left him holding and been responding to the emails lately right away. I may drag on repairs at time, as not my only job and working on other projects and that I did let him know at that time, but others do to, some a lot worst, I am not the only one. The only proof I can't give you is a picture of carrier walking away with them for obvious reasons.

retrodos - 2013-12-22 07:16
I hate that it has to be this way, but will be happy not to ever deal with you again, you just been a pain in my ass. Parts are impossible to get a hold of it not a fucken iPad, you fail to understand that. Yes I drag on it as it took almost a fucken year to get the parts, as these are rare models and I am taking about the Aiwa's, as I had to find another same model to get IC and ribbon out of, you can't buy those parts over the counter, didn't want to sent them back broken. Yes it did take months and not denying that. I did not on purpose decide, "Let me just sit on them for the hell of it", just receive the parts recently for the aiwa's.
I offer you a full refund months ago due to the wait and you can't say I didn't and you agree to wait, as didn't want to deal with them any more due to worn ribbon cable and one had bad IC and had a big project to work on and was out of town for a while, you also fail to mention that!! You also forgot to mention that one of them you sent to someone else before me, I won't mention name and they couldn't even fix it.
You think I am bad "eslabs", great overall company when it comes to nakamichi's, one of the best around. When it come to dragons and other decks it can take over 1-1/2 years and they charge over 1k to fix Nakamichi dragons. Other people on here been know to take over a year on this very forum. It the game, parts are just not available anymore, plus most do this for the interest on the side. If it was just Capacitors you would have had it within a month, like I did the others few I fixed, just these turn out to have a lot more issues. The Pioneer was the only straight forward one out of this batch and did fix the JL30 as the parts one from Europe showed up that you couldn't wait for, if you want will sell it back to you. The only fuckup was not sending the Pioneer out separate before I went out of town and had no one else to do so.
I also had to fix the same exact model jx303 for another member on here and also took months, as it had the same issue, he was way more understanding. He did get his back working weeks ago.
retrodos - 2013-12-22 07:43
I never charge you for the Pioneer repair ether, I did that on purpose due to the JL-30 sale, no I didn't forget. You fail to mention that to, very selective memory I guess. Of course everything my fault, not because parts are no longer available for these anymore and two Aiwa's had serious issues that came back, I didn't realize at first.
Also the first time you sent them and I change the capacitors you receive them back, no later then a month. Yes they did have other issues with the controls I didn't realize, or would have never sent them back that way. They did work when I sent them out, but didn't open and close the door a lot to realize ribbon was worn and didn't look noticeable worn. I also offer you a full refund since major project came up and wasn't home and didn't want you to wait any longer was even going to refund you the value of the Walkman's, so you won't have to worry. You chose to wait, I was the one pushing the other option.
retrodos - 2013-12-22 08:10
Yes it sucks that it took so long, but that just the way it is sometimes when it comes to this type of stuff. Sometime I can have it back within a month, sometimes it will take months, as you know when dealing with me in the pass.
If you decide not to deal with me again, then that your decision. You know my quality of work, not going to say anymore.

I would try to be more patient. I had a great experience with Retrodos and it was a very expensive walkman that I sent to him. The work was done in a jiffy and the price was very reasonable. I would give him the benefit of the doubt for now based on my experience with him. Have other members had issues with his services?
tuna - 2013-12-29 08:19
Problems with his services? Let's put it this way, I wouldn't send anything to him ever againa nd would smack him right in the face if I ever saw him. It is his luck he lives on a different continent. I believe there are more than a few members here who know what I'm talking about.
Cheers!

You again!! Let it go already, you been paid, plus wasn't 100% my fault as explained. I would actually smack you right in the face if you live closer, because you just don't get it, what happen to you and John was pretty much out of my control, except for the fact that I sure have never trusted anyone else, as that whole situation was a total lost, that I hope to never go thru ever again, reason why I do the repairs myself and keep them at my house, the only issue now is I have delays because of this, as I fixed well over 100's now and showed most of you guys how to repair them in the first place, but at least I don't have to worry about them getting stolen anymore.
You and john didn't have to take the loss I did in the end, plus during that time I wasn't even really charging for repairs and just doing trades as I was just getting started. Granted I did treated you unfairly during that time by not explaining and deal with the issue, as didn't really want to deal with the issues and the fact that I lost way ore then just the Walkman's, avoided you and john and left the site for a while, not even interested in hobby, or repairs anymore, a couple years back. I did come back, you confronted me, I thought about it and resolved the issues, which almost no one does, but wasn't right what happen and I was responsible regardless, as I receive them and agree to the deal.
Plus it was only your and John's out of well over 450 now that I ever had to pay for, john's I replaced with brand new in box working dd9 and fixed a couple other and sent back Panasonic for free, due to them being pretty much stolen. I don't blame you if you never want to talk to me, or use my service again, you had a very bad experience, but I did in the end paid you back, plus that was when I pretty much was just starting, just doing trades at the time, not even charging, plus fixed a lot of other members before this happen without any issues. I wish you would let this go already.
retrodos - 2013-12-29 11:12
Maurice, don't play games with me. If you had any business ethics or any ethics whatsoever, you would have explained the situation when it happened. You wouldn't have waited a year and you certainly wouldn't have hidden and changed your name. What you received was one nit short of a public hanging and if you hadn't, you would have never admitted your shameful deed. You Sir, have made a mockery out of us and the trust we have shown in you and your work.
Do you really think I wanted to bother Agent Orange to be a mediator in all of this? Do you think I did it because I like bothering the man or was it because you never really had any intention of undoing the damage you did?
When you say it was entirely your loss and that we lost nothing in this soap-opera, you are right and it is EXACTLY how it should be. It is business ethics my friend, something you know nothing about. You were hired for this job mate and everything was in your hands and therefore, YOUR responsibility. I didn't expect you to invite me for a cup of tea and biscuits but I had every right to expect you to honour our agreement. So forgive me for being blunt, but I don't care about your troubles or your problems with respect to this transaction. I couldn't care less as a matter fact. You chose to arbitrarily end the deal on your terms, without an explanation, a simple apology and I might add, with abundance of profanity on your part.
You are a piece of work Maurice. As for smacking faces, you received a pretty large one from me already. Don't provoke me.
Cheers!
Antun
I never wanted this to happen, it did unfortunately. What done is done, I can't take a time machine and go back in time and undo what happen!! It wasn't my shameful deed as you claim, I didn't intend on someone robbing me ether. Yes I was wrong for covering up the facts and disappearing, at the time I didn't want to resolve the issue and lost complete interest even and wasn't just because the Walkman's, I lost way more then that even. Yes I did change my user name and try to hide from resolving the issue at first, as was actually ashamed of what happen and didn't know of any good way to deal with the issues, I did apologize in the end to you. To be very blunt I did hide at that time, I didn't want to be known for what happen, I went about it the wrong way. It had nothing to do with business ethics, I have to fix and pay for mistakes that aren't even mine all the time, it the cost of doing business. It was just you and John, no one else was affected.
tuna - 2013-12-29 11:27
I know you lost a lot more in what went on, I remember well. The problem was, you made it our problem as well. That is what I mean when I refer to ethics and you had none.
I hope you have learned from the experience.
Cheers!

Isn't there a channel on YouTube named 'retrodos'?
I have seen his videos before and his work. You could probably go on thereto talk to him and aware other people about what he does.
docp - 2013-12-31 10:03
A few things to remember :
1. We are all certifiably insane to collect stuff the rest of the world considers obsolete - but we'd rather call ourselves eccentric collectors
2. Supplies of units and parts are fast diminishing and ALL units are already in a ' self destruct' mode - only a matter of time....
3. You either collect for the heck of it...to just possess or you are probably someone who actually risks using the stuff....anyways....if you can't mend your own stuff forget about depending on others for repairs. There are no 'officia'l service centres/ warranties/ guarantees. It is about a last chance gamble - take the risk!
4. If someone is passionate(crazy) enough to accept your/ my ailing piece of obsolete electronic junk for repairs....would you send it by post/ courier? Are you NUTS?! Don't you value it enough to hand carry it over, book into a hotel and await repairs ??
5. Now assuming the postal guys don't play football with the parcel and that someone actually had the time/ patience/parts/ know how/ courtesy to rehabilitate the junk - consider it a miracle. But the moment your unit has left your hands....forget about it till it comes back ...if it is destined to
Doctors often have critically injured/ terminally I'll patients....who end up breathing their last on the table despite all efforts and modern gadgetry/ wizardry. Just as you hardly ever hear praise for the lives saved....we seem to be setting a belittling trend of arguing and fighting over relatively insignificant things....do we really have that much money & time that we do so!!!!?
COLLECT if you want to.....but with grace & style. Let other collectors look up to us and say...wish we had their style
Happy New Year folks!

I am an enthusiast who is of lowest rank. I own five Walkmans and mainly to have more self direction of what gets heard without paying those with little connection to the labor for " tracks" in essence itune folks and all above and below that totem pole.
ok so now I have lost 99 percent of you reading the post. mother Theresa would tell me 'post anyways, son'
this is for retrodos. these people are vultures. I use to have trouble with a single screw on am950 right hand operable shifter for bicycle work. I could just imagine vulture a or b aka minty and tuna, sending me 15 to 20 year old bicycle parts with dozens of issues, barely above UpBeyondAnyvaluableRepair and claiming only this is wrong. then you or me in the trenches, under bombardment, getting hit by them with missiles of ignorance.
docP may have made me laugh hardest I have in five months. i owe him or her a big Thank You. charm to docP from me I wish from good spirits.
that aside, docP failed to realize that the mechanic technician here is doing repair for very little profit. a labor of love, passion, intensity of quality, intensity of make inoperable operable, and other personality traits are these few people like rertodos and I have for what we can fix. the profit is next to nothing or,as is carefully described by retrodos, actually a deficit.
next time you have two to three hours of free time I recommend a movie to you, Retrodos. I saw it, I think unedited, on youtube. it is a movie called law abiding citizen. Best therapy i ever got in dealing with unrealistic expectations of these people. to the rest of you: thank your blessings that someone would want to make what is yours and INOPERABLE operable again. quality is at the tip of the train, Tuna vulture and Minty vulture, not your wet dream business ethics. understand this. walk the walk on this. maybe you will be pulled closer to the fountain not made by the hands of men.
frank the engineer, Retrodos! best therapy for the few left like you. cheers or beers michaelwhiteritcheysahn

whiteritcheysahn, keen to remove your post and ban you but figured I'd leave your ignorance for the the amusement of others.
Personally I'm keen to understand your motivation here. Why post this when you clearly haven't read the thread.
If you've an ounce of decency you'd elaborate on your post but be warned, use bad language again and your out. Why not use the opportunity to give a valued, considered opinion rather than a random foul-mouthed drunken rant based on zero knowledge of the topic.
Though, to be honest, I don't think you have the balls.
radio.raheem - 2014-04-15 03:09
You're welcome Minty i always apriciate a good deal on ebay and you were very helpful to me, there arn't that many honest people like you and Retrodos on ebay these days
as for Retrodos and the time he took i think he just gets snow'd under with work etc at times, the man does take alot on

^^^^This sums it up best.^^^
A child having a tantrum is all it was. Put together a coherent discussion and perhaps a resolution could have been met. Instead you chose to ramble on like a crying child.
Grow up ....
teamstress - 2014-04-22 15:57
I've dealt with Retrodos a couple of times and have had no issues at all. If it wasn't for guys like him we'd have a lot more walkman in the trash, instead of still being enjoyed.

Alan, probably best to open a new thread in the tech section.
