Can anybody help me here?

I have been looking through my collection of walkmans and it seems that certain models of Sony (as follows)

WM EX80
WM 701
WM 701C
WM F702C
WM F701

There is just the one screw at bottom corner of unit where the AA battery holder fastened onto.
It looks like it also unscrews the door catch on the unit. It is so stiff.

None of these play but i can hear the motor (could be a belt problem) I have broken two screwdrivers to try and undo them.

Is there a better screwdriver and where can i get them from?

If it is not solved then i'll probably throw them away.

Just get a better screw driver, has to be the exact size or you will strip the screw work on those all the time.

The problem is where can i buy them as i think opticians screwdrivers are good but they don't stock them so i have looked around but most screwdrivers are too big.

They are the best, but pricey. The cheap one will end up stripping the screws right out.

Try a good hardware store. I got a nice set of five in my local hardware. They have steel shafts and were not very dear. Be careful not to shear the head with the wrong size, or you'll be in trouble.

i have a nice set of 9 jewelers screw drivers. i have had them at least 2 years. each size comes with 2-3 extra tips if you screw one up badly it can be replaced. they have little screws which will loosen or tighten to remove a bad pointed or bent end. they aren't the best but they weren't cheap either. they were about 40.00 back then. now they go for about 60.00. they are made in france and can probably can be found on the internet. they have a nice stand also that swivels when you need to change sizes. i couldn't get by with a set of cheapies as i have one and there is no comparison. all these have streight ends and no phillips at all. it doesn't seem to be a problem for me. if you bend one a little bit i can file a fresh end back to usable condition. the last i looked they had gone up to 60.00 a set. you can also order just the tips when needed which is really great.

by the way i have a little tip that may help with those difficult screws. i first take a vise-grip pliers and firmly clamp it down onto the screwdriver about one half way up. then i take a small,, piece of strong wood about 1 inch long and about 1/4 inch thick or so and position it in the palm of my hand. i then put the correct size into the screw slot and push down as hard as i can and turn the vice grip in a counter clockwise direct which starts the screw past the really hard first 1/2 turn. the reason for the wood is to cut down on the pain of pushing that screwdriver tip hard enough to keep it in place so as not to slip and strip out the screw. i haven't messed up a screw since i started this method and i have gotten every single screw loose that i needed too. sometimes it helps to get a second person to help if it is a very odd angle.

I know what you mean as nearly got blisters but turning a very small opticians screwdriver which my late dad had for years but it is still the best one i have but just one size.
